Did Polk ever make a center channel utilizing the SL2000 tweeter? If so, would the RDO 198 be a plug n play for said speaker?

No is the answer. I have used a monitor series speaker that utilized the SL2000 for center duty but Polk never made a center with the SL2000 tweeter.

This is correct. And if Polk had made a center speaker that used the SL-2000, the RD0198 would not be the proper replacement. It would be the RD0194.

I once modified a Polk CS-350LS center channel to be able to physically accept an SL-2000. I did not modify the crossover, but it sounded great and matched my RTA-12C's better than the stock tweeter did. When I switched to RD0's in my fronts, I went back to the stock tweeter, which matches the RD0's much better than it matches the SL-2000. I never tried an RD0 in the center, but I'm sure it would work well, based on how well the SL-2000 worked.

Note that I still absolutely prefer a vintage Polk from the Monitor series to any modern center, even with the swapped tweeter. There have been a lot of threads on this. Search away.

Thanks for the info guys. Lots of good info on those links. The CS400i sounds pretty good with my RTA8ts, but I was thinking tweeter matching might sound better.

    Try a Monitor 5B or 7C or 10B.
