Dude waited in line for his reserved copy of MW3. Got it and went home. While getting out of his car some thug attempted to rob him. Apparently this "victim" played the game too much as he told a armed gunman to F* off and refused to part with his game (thats balls!). He scared off the robber who returned to the same Gamestop he followed the victim home from to wait in line for the game lol.

Police apprehended the would be robber still waiting for his copy.... Pretty funny stuff

Really? I work in a chain store and we got over 100 copies of MW3 for EACH platform. I have a stock room with a shelf reserved for that game.
    Honestly that is just ridiculous.

Yeah, but then again it was the first release @ 12 that night so no other stores were open at that point is my bet.

Personally while I reserve & pay for the game ahead of time (normally so I can get a limited edition) I pick it up next day on my way home from work.....

Game Stop was offering a special incentive with downloadable content too that was limited to a certain number of copies. So if you wanted that content, you had to be at the Midnight sale.

Plus, they're nerds with no social life. MW3 and waiting in line is what they do. It's the highlight of their week to be the first nerd with the first nerd copy.

I pre-ordered at BB, but I have yet to get an e-mail about picking it up from the store. I'd never stand in line for a game...at 32 anyway. I shed tears over Super Mario Bros 3...but i was 10 years old so that's expected.

I waited in line... but honestly, I would've been better off going the next morning, 'cause then I wouldn't have been too tired to actually play it.

Read another story where a dude threatened to blow up a Best Buy because they had sold out of MW3. I mean... I wanted the game, but I'm not CRAZY.

And from what i've seen (reviews and gameplay) it's a terrible game (for the PC).

Yeah, lead platform for MW has always been the consoles. PC is an afterthought. Contrast that with Battlefield 3, where PC was the lead platform and consoles were ported. Honestly, the only game that has pulled of a pretty comparable release across PC, PS3 and 360 is Crysis 2, because that engine was designed specifically to automatically port across all 3 systems.

    I can't stop laughing at:
“Give me the game!” the gunman ordered.

    “(Expletive) you!” Freeman replied.

    Epic win.

No, too tired to play 'cause it was 1:30 in the morning before I got home with it and I had to take my car in for some work at 8 a.m. Going to a midnight launch for a game is no different than going to opening night of a movie. But CRAZY people try to steal it and threaten to blow stores up... The rest of us just enjoy gaming and are pretty calm about it.

Didn't enough people get burned w/ MW2 and Black Ops, to tone down the hysteria?

How did anyone get burned with Black Ops? It had the best multiplayer of the series so far, and IMHO, the best single-player campaign (at least as far as a cohesive plot) of any of the CoD games. There's a reason it's still the number one game on Xbox Live's online rankings (with Modern Warfare 2 in the third slot). Just sayin'.
