Today I am great pain. "tears falling as I write this"

My best friend of 17 years my cat Tiger has died this morning.

The few of you that have been lucky enough to meet her when you got your car worked on here know how special she is. Always checking up on me and my work always wanting attention. She has always been there for me, every break up every hard time every happy time....and now....I had to say goodbye.

The ones that have never meet her this cat was rare. Always fallowing me around, wanting to see what I am doing to a car or when I am playing a game. Always up for a listening session and so on.

Always the one to rat me out if I left dirty socks on the floor by dragging them downstairs.

So I just have to say to the ones that meet her thank you gor loving her. to the ones that have not I wish you could have meet her.

RIP Tiger aka The audio helping cat 16 years of pure happiness

I am sorry to hear off your loss.

    RIP Tiger and Godspeed.

    A Cat's Prayer

If it should be, that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then, you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
Don't let your grief stay your hand,

For this day more than the rest,
Your love and friendship stand the test.
    We've had so many years,
What is to come can hold no fear.
You'd not want me to suffer, so
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me to the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you'll see it is a kindness you do for me
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Don't grieve it should be you who this thing decides to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold tears.
SMILE, FOR WE WALKED TOGETHER FOR AWHILE.

Great poem had me in tears. Sadly I was at work when she passed. She was on the way to the vets. So I kick myself for that.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet.

My cat is laying next to my chair as I work on the computer, and this makes me think about how awful it will be when he does pass away. It also reminds me of how hard it was when I had to put my last cat to sleep due to severe kidney failure.

I can not lie and say that I have not thought about this day. I knew it had to come. Every time I thought about it I teared up a bit. I know me asking her to stay was greed on my part. I know she is no longer in pain. She basically had very heavy short breathing from last night into this morning. She was on the way to the vets when she died. My mom didn't even know she had passed until she got there. She fought my mother this morning so I had a feeling she just wanted to be left alone. Right now I am going through the regret stage. Thinking of things I should and should have not done yesterday and today. BUt she is in a better place now.

Sorry for your loss. Pets are like family for sure and it is always difficult to lose them. I dread the day our 2 cats and dog get to that stage. However I often tell myself we are giving them the best life possible (they are so spoiled).
My wife is a veterinarian and she rescued the 2 cats (before we were together) about 8 years ago. We also rescued our dog (a wonderful silver lab) last November.

She often tells me about her work days and how she has to put some animals down. I simply could never work in that field as I like pets more than most people. However, she also tells me the stories of people who let their animals go on too long. It's always a difficult decision but if the pet is in pain you have to do what's best. She uses the term "quality of life" and if the bad days start to out number the good days you have to consider that.

17 years is extremely long for a cat and it sounds like she had a wonderful, happy life. I don't think you could have done much more for her, it simply appeared her time was up. It sounds like you treated her very well and she knew it. Pets know and appreciate the care they get in my opinion.

Again, sorry to hear about your loss. Go through the normal grieving stages and then go rescue another deserving feline friend!

Thanks guys, her mother was actually the one I rescued. Than she had a litter of kittens and Tiger was the one I took. I still rememeber how mad the mother was that I kept taking her.

Yes it was her time and I was ready to make that choice if we had to put her down. But I didn't have to.

Sorry for your loss...i can only imagine what it's like after 17 years with an animal. With a FRIEND.

We've had our 2 year old cat for the past 18 months and unfortunately, he is anemic, has feline leukemia, and all around just isn't doin so hot. We are doing everything we can to make him happy and comfortable. It's going to be hard to deal with his passing when he is so young. I feel like i barely know him.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss and hers. I too have cats that passed and I also had a broken heart. If cats go to heaven, which I believe they do, she will have plenty of friends, young and old to keep her company till you see her again.

She usually is downstairs in the living room when I get home. She hd no energy and was rapid breathing. Next day took her to the vet they kept her over the weekend and said she is doing great. Monday she was full of energy and Tuesday well in the afternoon it was back to square one.

Sorry for your loss. Critters are truly family members in our house, and it's painful to lose one.

We have two dogs we bought, and a dog and cat that we rescued. They're all total rascals, and each one has a distinct personality. Our cat is part dog - he loves our rescue dog and seeks her when he comes inside. They wrestle and play, in spite of the dog being 60 1bs and the cat 12!

I lost my Staffie of 13 years, 4 years ago, and I still miss him.

Like one of the other posters said, when you're ready there'll be another cat that needs you.

Really sorry to hear that man:cry: Every time I have had to put one of my cats to sleep it has been extremely difficult, even though you know its for the best. My cat Chloe is now over 17 and just thinking about it makes me tear up. I have had her all 17 years minus about 8weeks so its been a long time. Through job loss and a divorce and having to move a number of times so i could afford to pay child support, she has been there.

So, when you feel you can go forward and get another great feline just know there is 1 or 2 or even 3 out there that will touch your heart. I know with Chloe, I got her the same day I had to put Sammers to sleep. I had sworn to wait a bit to pick another one out but when I got home and there was no pitter-patter, no meowing, I couldn't deal and went down to the Humane Society and chose her.

Anyway, good luck, godspeed and I will keep you and your Tiger in my prayers:exclaim:

    Sorry for your loss.

Your cat looks like a "Bengal" breed and we have one just like yours. They are the smartest and most like a dog that a cat can get. We have had 5 years of bliss with ours so far and know how lucky we are to have her in our home. I can only imagine how attached and fond you were of yours. Our fondness times 3 is very special indeed. I'm glad you had a friend in yours like we have in ours.
They are very amazing pets for a cat. We will get another "Bengal" probably if we outlive our Cali. She loves my wife like no other cat has and we can even play pass the ball back and forth with Cali. She's not afraid of strangers like most cats are. They are a great breed of cat and I'm sorry for your loss but also glad you had a friend like our friend is to us.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

I'm sorry too for your loss. I've been down for a few weeks actually because it was this time last year my 18 year old cat passed away while taking a nap in my arms. I've been thinking about him. You will miss him but you won't regret having had him for all those years. That's a lot of memories and a lot of love.

I can tell he was a cool cat. Hang in there, and remember the good times.
