Im looking at buying a Jamo surround setup, I heard they are good for the price, and a sub company of Klipsch. Only thing is I never used 6 Ohm speakers before. I know my receiver can use both 6 or 8 ohms but is there a difference, such as sound or loudness. Also will it make my receiver work harder, or will it not matter. Im just not familiar with this type of speaker so if you guys can help me out because Im definately ignorant about this whole thing. Appreciate all your help thanks. J

If your receiver will work with 6 ohm speakers it is rated for more output into 6 ohms than 8 ohms. like 100 watts into 8 ohms, probably 120 or more into 6.

Somebody else will probably chime in and correct me if I'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure the sound and loudness are both the same as with 8 ohm speakers. I have use 6 ohm speakers before but from towers to these were smaller bookshelf speakers from a Sony shelf system so it's hard to tell. I did set my receiver (onkyo TX-8555) to 4 ohms and ran my towers and it sounded a little different but little I could tell due to only leaving it on 4 ohms for about 5 seconds.

There is probably minimal difference as most 8ohm speakers dip into the 6ohm range at some point in the frequency curve.

that's right, look at the definition of nominal and 8 ohms pretty much just means it can change but is mostly 8 ohms
