So I just got an Iphone and now I was curious what apps out there you guys use for audio stuff, or just plain fun. Prefer the free kinda apps.

    eWeather HD is my favorite weather app. The official Weather Channel app SUCKS! Used to be great, but they did several updates recently and ruined it!

    The Onion is hilarious! Flick Fishing is very fun. Shanghai Lite. Gotta have Ebay, Amazon and Groupon, Fox Sports, USA Today, NASA TV.
    No excuses!

    The JL Audio apps are cool, Decibel Ultra is a good free sound meter. RTA Lite is nice, and Tone is a decent tone generator. The Studio Six Digital apps should be considered also.

    Shazam is the coolest song recognition app in the world.

    Check out a few flashlight apps. I use mine daily!!!

    iHandy level is a cool app as well.

    ESPN for sports, Tivo if you have one, eBay if you auction shop, too many cool things to mention, good luck in your search
    HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

    I got a Droid, but this app is also available for your IPhone. If you have a Squeezebox, Logitech has a free Squeeze app for you. I like the fact that my smart phone screen is much larger than my Logitech Controller screen.

    Do any used CD shopping? I do quite a bit and cannot always recall everything that I own and end up with dupes. If you have MediaMonkey, you can download the free Triximoto Advanced Report 6.0. It creates a single HTML document listing all the artists you have in MediaMonkey. I don't have any web space to upload it to so I stuck it in the downloads folder of my phone. While Advanced Report isn't listed as a smart phone app, it works.

    First page is artists by alphabetical listing. Click on the artist, you are taken to a page with color icons of all the albums you have for that artist. You have the option of adding track listings for each album. Note that this can be a huge file depending on library size.

    Pics here. (Hand held available light so they are a bit blurry).

    I think there's a Zune app to brick your iPhone and only allows a secret Zune theme based player that makes phone calls. :p

    I like Google Search - speak to it or take a picture of just about anything & it'll tell you everything you want to know about it.

    I like Yelp & AroundMe, which tells you about every imaginable business in any American city. Restaurants with reviews, stores, library's, hospitals, coffee shops, you name it. Excellent.

    I like Groupon & Yollar, two discount offering apps that I've used a lot.

    Lots of people like Pandora & Netflix (movies) & Shazam, which identifies the music you're hearing.

    I love MapQuest which acts as a voice turn by turn GPS system! Use it a lot.

    ColorSplash is a fun photography app & AllRecipes is great for cooking.

    This might make a small difference in app suggestions, but I have the 4G not the 4S. Didnt feel like being an early adopter on this one since the 4G was 100 cheaper than the 4S.

    I have already downloaded the following: Facebook, Angry Birds, Words w/ Friends, Pandora, Flashlight, Craigslist.

    I will look at some of these other apps tonight (have to work early so not too much time to look at the ones posted).

    Right now I do NOT have a Squeezebox touch, but thats on my list of things for Christmas I gave to my wife :smile:.

    With regards to Itunes and putting music on ones phone, what is the preferred compression rate? Apple lossless? I ask because I will be exporting copies of all my FLAC from MediaMonkey (not stored in my Windows 7 library folder) to that format for playback.

    I only have a 16 gig so I am hoping to find whatever is equivalent to the 320 bps MP3 format. If its higher thats ok, but if its lower I am gonna be a bit annoyed :smile:

    IMO, Angry Birds is a blast! The free version was cool, but the $.99 one rocks, was totally worth the upgrade.

    And I only have the original version, I know there ae several more out there.

    The app called Endless is a pretty cool way to kill 15 minutes at work, too :D
    So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

    I like SoundHound for recognition. GearID is good to track your stuff. INRIX traffic is the bomb for local traffic tie up warnings. TED is just as cool as it gets for almost any entertainment, education and enlightenment. All are free.

    PS - Thanks for the suggestions above :)

    As I do use MediaMonkey will be looking into: Triximoto Advanced Report 6.0 as that should be pretty cool....

    It has been a while, but IIRC after installing, you have to open the Advanced Report VBS file newly installed in the MediaMonkey Scripts folder, and copy and paste the Advanced Report segment into the Scrips config file right after the existing [ExportXLS] entry.

    There is more script to the advanced report (it screws up this post when pasted in:eek:), but it ends up looking like this. You also have to remove the ' symbol in front of each line of the new instructions after you paste them in.

    [ExportXLS]
    FileName=Export.vbs
    ProcName=ExportXLS
    Order=5
    DisplayName=Track List (&Excel)
    Description=Exports selected tracks to a .xls file
    Language=VBScript
    ScriptType=1

    [AdvancedReport]
    FileName=AdvancedReport.vbs
    ProcName=AdvancedReport
    Order=22
    DisplayName=Advanced Report
    Description=Advanced Report
    Language=VBScript
    ScriptType=1

    What about a custom reminder app? If I wanted to reminded of something exactly 86 hours, 25 minutes from now, I have yet to find anything that can do that, even though I can set the time to be reminded of to anything I want.

    Hate to bump an old thread, but need a tone generator of some sort so I can do frequency sweeps.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    check out gameloft.com. they're always offering up some of their paid games for free. Some games do require hefty downloads so use wifi.
