Fxi a6's or the A4's?

I am looking to upgrade from a 3.1 to a 5.1 and eventually to a 7.1 system. It is a smaller room and I was planning on going with the Fxi series. Space is a little bit of a issue, but if the Fxi A6's are allot better than the A4's than I can make it work. I am just wanting to know if it is really worth my time to change everything to fit the larger speakers. Is the sound quality really that much better with the a6's? any help would be greatly appreciated.

My current setup is:
Front: 2 Tsi 400
Center: Cs20
Sub: Klipsch 450

Thank you!

I think the 4's are just as good. I upgraded to the a6's but honestly didn't hear much of difference for the extra coin.
However, i'm sure a lot of folks are a lot more serious than I could ever be about HT. My priorities are also biased towards tweaking my little music rig rather than HT.

But if you have your crossover set high enough that it gets rid of low bass what is the point of the larger woofer? If you look at the specs you are only going to gain 5 Hz. Both pairs play lower than the typical 80 Hz crossover setting. If your room is small then you might reconsider doing a 7.1 setup. More is not always better especially if you don't have the room.

thanks for the info. and your right about the 7.1. I have considered just doing a 5.1 system, but i might go with the 7.1 if i can create the room for it. Is it going to be a problem that the fxi's are going to have to be mounted about seven feet off the ground? is that going to cause a problem with hearing them properly and clearly from about a four or five foot listening position?

Also, how do you switch between the bipolar and dipolar settings on the Fxi a4's? I can see that the a6's have a switch on the front, but i dont see anything for the a4's. I can't find any pictures of the back of the a4's or anything. thanks for the help guys

Set them to dipole and I would imagine the fx a4 would be the same as the fx3 I had, if thats the case the switch is on the back

I always set my fxi to dipole to have a very diffused sound in the rear config but you can have them bipole and use them as side surrounds .What every way just get them and swap them around and see what you prefer

You want your surounds mounted a few feet higher than the listing position. The bipole dipole switch on the fxi a4 is located on the back binding post plate.

I have the A4 and absolutely love it. The only thing I don't like is that if I want to switch from bipole to dipole I have to take the speaker off the wall. Otherwise, the A4 is fantastic!

how does the a4 compare to the lsifx?
I already ordered my 4 fxia4's and my lsi front stage, but if I got a 5 channel amp I could run lsi fronts center and sides and use fxi4 for the rear.

Might be too late to change my order though, it would only cost 200 more to get my side lsifx if my order didnt go out yet. Damn the decisions
