Absolutely, there are subs with remote controls. I think that partsexpress.com sells some and maybe velodyne too. I'm sorry I cant be of more help but just letting you know that they do exist. Someone else can probably be more specific.Graham

Chris,
The only sub I've seen with remote control is a DIY Titanic Subwoofer kit from PartsExpress.
They also have a replacement remote controlled 250 watt plate amp.
gatemplin, sorry, didn't mean to step n your post.

Hey Man,
Not to hi-jack your thread. I was wondering where you bought that 10 foot KLH subwoofer. Never seen one before
I think Velodyne's DD line comes with a remote control? Quite pricey though! Does SVS?- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
why would u want a remote on your sub? arent u supposed to calibrate it and then leave the volume alone after that? why not use the bass volume on ur receiver...seems easier to me

The CSW Newton P500 and P1000 have remote controls.

what? you have never seen a 10 foot sub before? j/k, i'll fix that in a few min's. i have always wanted a velodyne sub, but i really do not want to spend more then $500... because i still need to update my reciever and center channel speaker.
the reason for my sub remote is because i just want to be able to adjust my volume... going through the menu's on my reciever is quite annoying. so i figure if i had the remote for the sub next to me i could instanly adjust the volume.2003 51 Inch Hitachi Tv

Blk,
Since you are on a budget maybe you should reconsider DIY. I'm no expert on the subject but it seems that all you need is a plate amp with remote, driver and box. All of which you can get at parts express. Just a suggestion.Graham -
but how good are the DIY's? i would like to hear the sub before i buy it, and i do not think that is posiable unless they have a retail store somewhere in which i could listen to it. maybe i should just forget the remote control idea. unless anyone knows a model that fits my criteria...2003 51 Inch Hitachi Tv

Many Velodynes come with remotes, at least the old HGS's did. Not sure, but I don;t believe the CHT and other lines did.
But as others have mentioned it really is not necessary with most current AVR's as they have variable EQ outputs. Many even remember different sub settings for different sources. Dr. Spec often refers to the fact that his Denon is set 6 dB hot for DVD's, but flat for music.
Bottom line, a remote controlled sub may well be redundant in your system, and since nothing is free, not worth the added expense.More later,
