Speaker demo
I see Polk shipping speakers out to members for a free demo. A lot of people get to listen to these and send them on. What does Polk get out of this? I mean, it's nice they let you guys demo their speakers but I really see no benefit to Polk because I never see any reviews on the product page. I see a bunch of people asking to listen but that seems to be about it. As far as the LSIM line goes, Polk is shipping thousands of dollars in speakers around so Polkies can have a free listen in the comfort of their own home with a multitude of equipment, yet the product page is "empty" as far as user feedback goes. If this is happening with the LSiM line, it's probably true for the other demo models as well.
It seems to me if Polk is nice enough to ship you new speakers to demo, then they deserve your feedback on their product, good or bad, on the product page. If people who are shopping for new speakers, know of Polk or have heard about them and visit the website they have product reviews they can read to help them decide on what to buy. I used product feedback to help me buy my RTI's even though I never heard them. Since I have owned Polk's before, I already knew I was going to get a great product at a good price. Those that have never heard Polks and decide to visit the website will probably be looking at the series they are interested in and will be reading the reviews, like I did.
I see the 703's have 1 product review and the 705 and 707's have none. Hey! What Happened?
If, by letting the members have a free listen, at their own home for a two week period for feedback, then I think club members have dropped the ball on product feedback to Polk. I would think Polk wants and deserves something in return for their generous program. If this is happening with the LSIM series, it has to be the same way for any Polk speakers sent out for a demo.
If the powers that be let me borrow a pair of Polks for 2 weeks, I would certainly be good enough to post a review on the product page. I don't know what others are thinking but it has got to be more than gimme gimme gimme.
I thought the demo program was a "give and take" situation with benefit not only to Polk but to forum members who want to try new products.

There's a 'lag' between when you submit a 'review' and when it appears on the Polk page (they go through an editorial process--mostly to make them as readable as possible). I submitted a review of a Polk Sub months ago, don't see it yet. It is possible that the review never went through--I think I may have 'exceeded' some word limit (because there was some funky behavior on the site when I finished sending the review).
And on that note: could someone tell us if there is a 'word' limit on reviews submitted to Polk?
Thanks!
