Here is a recipe for aural pleasure.

Single ended tube integrated w/tube rectification amazingly only 9/wpc
(1) RCA branded Mullard/Blackburn made 5AR4 (GZ32) rectifier from the early 60's
(2) Perfectly matched SED Winged "C" EL34 power tubes
(2) Valvo Heerlen Holland made ECC 83 large halo driver tubes from 1960
(2) Polk Audio Monitor 5B's modded with Clarity caps, Mills resistors, RD0194-1 tweeters, Larry's baffle rings
(2) 10' Piggy back/double run Canare Star Quad speaker cables
(1) pr. MIT Terminator II I/C's
(1) Harmonic Technology Glass Toslink cable
(1) Std. USB cable
(1) Musiland Monitor 02 for USB to SPDIFF conversion
(1) AMC DAC8 digital to analog converter
(1) ASIO driver
(1) Media Monkey Media manager/player
(1) Vr3MxStyler2k3 homemade power cord

Various FLAC files lovingly cared for from a computer hard drive.

Mix together for synergy; power up and wait 30 minutes for things to cook. Listen for amazing tone, clarity, imaging and soundstaging.

P.s. additional benefit of keeping a small office/bedroom toasty in the cold months.

The Monitor 5 is an excellent office rig speaker... or even main rig when modded like yours are.

I love that Vintage Polk tone. Nothin' like it.

I am now going to hook up my 5's in the main rig just to see what they can really do. They've never been on some of this gear before...

Oh and BTW, I'm running some tubes from that same Herleen plant right now, but from '64.

    Cheers man, enjoy the tunes.

Cheers as well. The thing I've found with the 5B's is they suffer in a larger room as they just don't have the bass extension compared to a small office/bedroom. But certainly worth trying in there. I tried once vs. SDA 1C's, not even enjoyable.............but then again it really shouldn't be when one is used to the HUGE sound of SDA's.
