Hooking up 4 speakers and a Sub to a 2-channel amp

Hello everyone, I require some assistance.

Over time the audio system in my '98 Grand Cherokee has been completely frankensteined. I currently have a Pioneer Premier GM-X422, Bridgeable, 2-Channel Amp. I have 4 Kenwood door speakers (IDK the specs on these) hooked up to the amp and I used to have a stock head unit that a blew out. I have a 10" Sub.

The amp is set up like this:

I have my 4 door speakers hooked into the output (so that there is only Left and Right channel, no front-rear) and I have the input cables from the HU hooked into the input. I recently bought a subwoofer and me being the impatient person I am, decided to see what would happen if I hooked up the sub using extra control-unit wire. I attached the SUB(-) to Output(L+) and the SUB(+) to Output(R-). When I did this, I heard a cackle come out of the sub and my head unit smoked (the amp seemed to be fine), so I currently do not have a head-unit.

So my questions for when I get a new head unit and some actual speaker cable is, will I still hook up the sub in this manner? Can my amp not support my 4 door speakers and a Sub? General advice?

sorry for your luck but if your not sure how to hook up car audio leave it to the pros or at least someone that knows what they are doing. Subs should have their own dedicated amp so they aren't under powered. A two channel amp is exactly that two channels you shouldn't run 5 speakers off it especially a sub

Perhaps I should get the help of a pro such as yourself :P . So basically I need a 5 channel amp

I'm no pro by any means. Its just a hobby I used to be into, now its home audio I'm into...lol. if you do a little resarch and reading online you can learn a lot. You can use the amp you have to run your fronts but I would recommend a nice mono amp since you only have a single speaker. Also I couldn't understand exactly how you hooked everything up from your explanation. If you have any other questions let me know maybe I can help you out.

I'm thinking use the bridgeable amp for the sub and hook the speaks directly to the head unit for the time being. If you want more then save up for a 4-channel amp for the speaks. just my opinion
