I seen this posted in another forum............. Polk Audio SRT in thrift store

I saw a Polk Audio SRT, 9 pieces with satellites, arrays, subwoofer "preamp" and Adcom GFX 7000 for $199. Had one of speakers missing from an array. But I'm broke and I don't have a home theater setup.

Probably the best deal to show up there in years.

Might be worth looking into if you live in the area.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Personally it seems to me no matter how broke I happened to be I would have managed somehow to beg borrow or steal the funds to get these if I had seen them and they were in my home town.

Barring any kind of physical prrof that this is legit... I am gonna call bs on this one. Any person in the audio hobby for any lenth of time would know that they were looking at the greatest surround system ever made and grabbed it on the spot, knowing they could if nothing else, make 10 times their investment back. There is no way the guy walked on it and made no attempt to even try and snag this up.

Well its a good deal for sure. I must wonder though. I called every thrift store (and Good will) For a 50 mile radius of Des Moins and no one knew of any "Fridge sized speakers". If it was -is- for real they got a smokin' deal even with a few blown or missing drivers.

All good not your fault Snow. Something like that doesn't last long. I just hope the person that got them will take care of them and not treat them like crap.

They'll be on here asking how to hook it up because it isn't a simple plug and play system OR they'll want to know how to replace the sub drivers because they blew the drivers by plugging directly into the SRT sub amps instead of using the SRT controller. Either that or they'll just use it as a stereo system without SDA and never know what they're missing.
