For HT you should use speakers from the same series for the best timbre match. For 2 channel music the SDA's are the better speaker. Running SDA's off of an AVR isn't going to show you what they are capable of.Political Correctness'.........defined

What do you mean by "perform better"??? What are you trying to accomplish??? What's missing in your current set-up that makes you want to change speakers??? There has to be a reason.

If you are planning on getting a 2ch amp for the front I would stick with the SDA2A's. I also wouldn't mix the RTi series with SDA's. You would be better off finding some Monitor 7's for surrounds and ignoring the RTi's.

If its HT you're after I think the rti 12's will perform much better, but for music SDA's hands down. If for music and you're not satisfied then try doing some mods to your 2's. IMO Yamaha and rti's are a bad combo. Look for a dedicated pre/amp combo.
More info is need. -

im thinking of replacing my fronts with the RTi12s on my HT setup and just use my vintage SDA2a's for my stereo setup and connect it to my PC. -
i think im just curious how those new modern looking speakers sound like. and polk has been selling it cheap at ebay for 800 buck a pair of RTi12s.

That seems like a good plan. Be sure to follow F1NUT's advice and timbre match your HT

why a bad combo? can you elaborate? thanks. -
dont forget to get a matching center channel.
CSi3/CSia4/CSi5/CSia6
any of those will match with the RTi12smole' -
well, i just bought my yamaha rx-a1000 a month ago. i didnt know that. im still a newbie in building HTs. how about getting a two channel amp for the RTi12s? the yamaha is a PRE amp too. unbalanced RCA outputs.
why a bad combo? can you elaborate? thanks.
Both Yamaha and rti's can be bright. I would also look into a pair of lsi 15's. They can be had for the same price as the 12's and they're good for both HT and music. -

thats the ebay link. thanks for the info leroyjr1. -
Go with the Lsi speakers but bewarned they are 4 ohm speakers and will need a seperate amp to handle the power. If you want Lsi surround speakers, Polk has the Lsi F/X speakers that are awesome.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,
Yamaha RX-V2500 System, Carver A753 3 channel amp.
Polk HT system 2: , SRT system with f/x 1,000's rear speakers on 7.1 system currently using Onkyo TX-RZ820 receiver, powered by Sunfire Grand Theater amp
Polk Speaker collection: SDA SRS 1.2tl x 2, SRT system, SDA SRS 2 P/B, SDA 2A, SDA 1C Studio, SDA CRS+, Monitor 7B & 4, SRS 3.1tl, RTA 15tl, LS90, LSI 9 -
as of now, i cant do that upgrade for the LSI series yet. i dont have the extra $$$ for a 5 channel amplifier that supports 4 ohms. and im still renting a house. i'll just have to wait 'til i can get a house of my own that has a basement dedicated for my HT pleasure.
