Tom~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

Sorry, didn't see the date on this thread until after my soapbox stance.........lol
I guess this topic plays more to us old farts that have lived through the technology. Going back to the 60's many recordings were released in mono as stereo was still new. AM radio was king, so there was no need to move up/upgrade. I grew up on the Motown sound, love the songs, but hated the style or sound of the recording. You move into the 70's were stereo was the standard, and FM radio steals 10k's of thousand listener almost over night. As for types of music being better, Jazz, especially smooth Jazz had a consistent sound standard compared to various other genres. The 80's was a mismas of just push the sliders to the top and see how it sounds and this is where Audiiophiles will exit most conversations on music when the 80's come up.Family Room HT 7.2/i]:Vizio Oled55h1 Pioneer Elite SC-LX502 Pioneer Elite BDP 85FD Eversolo DMP A6 Panamax M5300-EXSpeakers Fronts Fluance XF8L Center Polk Audio S35 Side Surrounds Fluance bipolar Rear Surrounds FluanceXF8 Bookshelf Subs SVS PB4000 x2 Living room 2ch: Crown Xli 1500 amp x2, Teac EQ MKII FX Audio X6 Mk II DAC Squeezebox Touch Polk Audio R700 Speakers Panamax M5100-EXOffice media room:Vizio M50Q6 50" Pioneer Elite VSX LX301 Eversolo DMP-A6 Polkaudio R600 Towers Polkaudio Center R350 Panamax M4300 Monoprice 12" subMaster bedroom:Vizio M55Q7 Pioneer Elite VSX LX302 Pioneer Elite BDP 85FD Squeezebox Touch Fluance Signature Bookshelf fronts, Rears Fluance Signature Bipolar Polk Audio CS10 center Monoprice 12" sub Panamax M5300-EX -
Many times over the years I had the same thought about getting a boom box and calling it a day. Eventually I managed to put together a rig that excels with great recordings yet makes bad ones sound pretty damn good. Don't give up, you'll get there one day.

I think the big corporations plan it that way, bear with me.
The new Coke disaster was marketing genius if you disect the number’s outcome.
Same with audio?
Make recordings to a certain level attainable for purchase.
Make average audio gear available for the masses.
Make esoteric audio available to those seeking the truth.
Those that found the truth…………
Now, we make the best recorded material for the people that found the truth.
On my 5th frosty beverage and naturals, nothing to hear here. -
Ok, I think I am starting to appreciate this. Maybe I'll just jump to track 3 from now on.
