Hi guys, I've seen Ohm/Walsh speakers both on Agon and e-bay but never heard them. As far as looks go I like the way the 2xs and 4x look and they are still made in N.Y.Has anyone out there ever hear these speakers and knowing that placement is key w/ these are they worth what they go for.

They're good to very good... and Ohm is still around and still making some of the Walsh speakers.

Ohm speakers are a very forgiving speaker. A good recording sounds good on these and a not so good recording sounds good on these. Now it's up to you to decide if that is a positive or negative. Depends on how you like your music.Everything matters. That is all.
Money cannot buy happiness, but it sure can buy a bad **** boat to pull up along side it though. -
I dunno about very forgiving... but they're definitely pretty smooth.
They are quite pleasant to listen to, fo' sho'.
FWIW, these are the ones I have... I am not sure what model they are; I think that they may be Walsh 2s... but I have never conclusively determined if they is or they ain't. They sound quite good driven by a PP EL84 amp (e.g., an EICO HF-81).
I do have the grilles for them - but they need some 'structural work'.
(EDIT - three nice sounding loudspeakers in that photo...) -

thanks guys, and to fal72 those speakers looks amazing. There is just something about exotic wood that does it for me whether it's furniture, guitars, or of course skrs. Not the biggest fan of either flat or that piano black that I have w/ my Klipsch 500 smalls.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

I had a pair of the 4s. Very nice speakers. Just be aware they are difficult to work on. If they need refoaming Ohm will do it for you but it's not cheap.

Speaking of Ohm and the Walsh drivers - the sine qua non of these was the big Ohm Walsh F. The fullrange, omnidirectional driver assembly of the F reminds me of nothing more than the exhaust nozzle of one of the F1 rocket motors (I think they call 'em "motors", not "engines") from the first stage of the Saturn V.

Those Ohm Walsh Fs are one of the best speakers I've heard. I'd love to own a pair.

I know someone who owns a set of these, they do sound pretty good. Not the best I've heard but certainly among some of the best. Depends on your subjective tastes...and amplification. He ran them with Soundscraftsmen gear.

These certainly look 'interesting' but I would really need to hear them as it looks like maybe a bit too much was put into the wood and their 'appearance'.
