Larry's Rings!

I know of course this has been said before, but Larry you are a mad genius! I thought at first that parts were missing, then I looked again at H9's thread on installing. I shot over to Home Depot to get the clamps.
It took me longer than I thought. Being longer, I mean I thought it would take about an hour, but I was able to do it all in less than two. Mainly because I was just being slow. At first it went super easy with the tweeter bracket. I figured out the other driver rings after a bit. The first passive was a pain because I over bent the ring, and my holes I think were too perfect. For the second speaker, I was a slight bit more liberal on making the holes and it was a world of difference in ease.
Your design was impeccable! I did mess up by stripping one driver screw hole, but I think I got some dust in the hole by accident. It's pretty much fine though.
The bass is there, very pronounced even more than after doing mortite and crossover upgrades. The whole speaker sounds more powerful, larger, and the very small details in music are more precise.
It's friggen amazing!
I still have the templates, do you want them? I don't mind sending them, and it's like recycling.
I can't thank you enough for coming up with these, personalizing for the model, and then offering at ridiculously low prices.
I can now say that the rings are on par if not higher in priority than spiking the speakers.
I'm not even watching football because I want to listen to music, and I'm breaking out the good stuff again!
I want to thank DarqueKnight too for giving information and links as to why they work.
thanks man, you are one cool cat.

What ring did you strip out?? I will send you a new one. Also on the passive rings there are some slits cut in them to help with bending them into a taco shape and once inside the cabinet you can bend them back with ease..
Thanks for the kind words!!

Thanks Larry! It was the right speaker stereo driver ring. It doesn't matter obviously which of the four, but that was the one.
Overall it was fun to do the mod. Pretty much anyone could do this or walk someone through doing this mod. It is certainly a must do!
Seriously, your rings really made a huge, surprisingly huge difference, although from all the reviews I should not be surprised. Right now my wife has taken over the couch in SDA contemplation and worship.Polk Audio SDA CRS+ crossover 4.1TL by Trey/VR3 (Rings and custom stand by Larry)-Polk Audio SDA SRS2 crossovers by Trey/VR3Parasound HCA1500aYamaha rxa-3070 with musicast-Celestion SL6S presence,- sl9 surround backNHTsuper1's surroundMagnepan SMGParasound 1500pre- Sofia "Baby" tube amp - Monitor Audio Silver RX2 Marantz 2230/B&Kst140Technics 1200mk2 Gamertag: IslandBerserker I am but a infinitesimally small point meeting the line of infinity in the SDA universe -

I'll have to check that out!
The thread of "what are you listening to now" is a good way for me to find new music, as is the SDA playlist sticky.
I like all music, but lately Coldplay, Creed and Tool have taken on a whole new meaning with the recent speaker advancements. I've always been a classic rock, jazz, blues, and funk kind of guy, but I'm into everything really. I was playing Widespread Panic last night testing out the rings, and it was an awesome concert wall of sound.
After the ring upgrade, even commercials have taken on a vastly spatial sound and clarity.Polk Audio SDA CRS+ crossover 4.1TL by Trey/VR3 (Rings and custom stand by Larry)-Polk Audio SDA SRS2 crossovers by Trey/VR3Parasound HCA1500aYamaha rxa-3070 with musicast-Celestion SL6S presence,- sl9 surround backNHTsuper1's surroundMagnepan SMGParasound 1500pre- Sofia "Baby" tube amp - Monitor Audio Silver RX2 Marantz 2230/B&Kst140Technics 1200mk2 Gamertag: IslandBerserker I am but a infinitesimally small point meeting the line of infinity in the SDA universe
