Looking to purchase a new sub(s) for my HT/music room and was looking at dual F110's or a single F113. The price on the duals new are $2500 (both) vs $2199 for a new F113. My room size is 16x14 and is sealed in the basement. I like the idea of duals to balance out the bass but I'm wondering how the 10" does for HT. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I've only heard the f213 and Gothams, but would definitely consider the f110 pair over a f113.

Thats a tough call... I have a f112 and am in a 12x18 loft that opens to a staircase and goes to my downstairs area. Even with all the open space, the 12 is more than enough to go with my lsi system. I'd love to have a 2nd woofer, but for the money I spent on just one there wouldn't be enough of a benefit... I'd go with the f113.

Was also looking at SVS SB13 new sub. Only $1200 each with free shipping. If I did get the F113 it would be another 6 months before I could afford to get a second one.

My current budget is $3000 and for $200 more I could get (2) F112's now. How is the HT side of the 12's? Can you feel the bass?

    Thanks

Did the Gothams sound like a 15k sub?

I'm running dual Fathom F113's for around 6 months now and have come to a final decision that there's no need to upgrade to any other sub anymore. My room is 25x16: pic here. The JL Audio subs were paired with the Polk Audio LSi speakers as a 5.2 setup. These JL audio subs shine for both music and HT, and that is what I need!!!
Gears shared to both living room & bedroom:
    Integra DHC-80.3 / Oppo BDP-105 / DirecTV HR24 DVR /APC S15blk PC-UPS
    Living room:

    Bedroom:
    Usher Dancer Mini 2 Diamond DMD's / Logitech SB Touch / W4S STP-SE / W4S DAC-2 / W4S ST-1000 / Samsung 52" LN52B750
    Other rooms:

A pair of 12's would be amazing... If I could afford a second one, I may splurge but at the same time, the one I have is enough on it's own. As far as music vs. home theater... it's a wonderful sub in both. As DMara said, once you have one of the JL's you quickly realize that there is no need to even think about "upgrading" or changing subs.

As expensive as they are, they are worth every penny... sure sounds like you found a good dealer to work with on some of the prices you are throwing out.

Mole' I originally started out with a psw10 (you can find about 20 threads where I bash it) and then moved to the klipsch sub-12 and then made it a pair later on. Yes, they were all entry subs but on my quest that led me to the JL I can't even name all the others I listened to. The only other sub I gave some consideration to was the Paradigm Sub 12 but when all was said and done, the JL was only 300 more (200 if I went satin) and the paradigm requires an aftermarket purchase of their setup mic which would have evened the price.

As per my comment on the gloss finish, It's just my preference. I think it looks a lot better with the gloss finish on the LSI's and it's so nicely done that it's got that mirror shine to it. Sure, it's 100 bucks but when you are getting the dealer to work with you on the price, that 100 goes away anyways.

If you want flat bass response, multiple subs makes much more sense.

Nice!! I'm still debating on dual f110's, single f113, or single svs ultra. I'm having a hard time deciding.

I have a single Fathom F110 and use it primarily for music and secondary for HT. It does a stellar job, however, I regret not getting the F112 or even F113. The 10" just doesn't have the muscle to do HT justice. Two subs are typically better than one because the bass is more even (not as many dips/peaks). So my vote would be to get dual F112's.

    Leroy,

I'll agree with most of the others and say go with the 113. I have the 112 in a similar sized room and it is superb for music. You mentioned also considering a sealed svs. A buddy of mine has the new 12" sealed version. It comes closer to the jl than I expected, but IMO the jl is still the winner. It has the edge in attack and plays a bit lower. Aesthetics are much greater as well. Hope this helps.
