I'm looking at a Harman Kardon Citation 7.1 amp for my speakers but not 100% sure about the "common ground" thing. Just need to know if this amplifier will work. It's a 4 channel amp which can be bridge to two channels. I want to make sure its right and not blow anything up if I'm going to buy it. Any one know?

If you use it in the bridged configuration, it is NOT suitable for SDAs unless the SDA model you have can accept the AI-1-style transformer in the SDA interconnect cable.

I can't tell you about non-bridged use; send an e-mail to HK. I don't even understand how a "7.1 amp" can have only 4 channels.

Not much help but the earlier Twin Powered models in the H/K lineup are common ground and they are a dual mono design.

Can't vouch for the SQ of their newer amps but the old H/K's are excellent. My H/K 730 receiver is a true over-achiever, especially for a mere 40 watts per channel. Matter of fact, I am going to look at a Citation 12 amp tonight.
