I'm trying to connect my xover to my new inductors, problem is, the black 16awg cable the goes from the board to the original inductor won't reach my new inductor sitting on the floor of the cabinet. I don't want to mess anything up so I thought I'd ask before I destroy something.

What type of cable is this? Looks like it's silver. Where could I pick some of this cable up?

Maybe a better question is what would you do in this situation?

Thanks guys.

I soldered longer wires to the Xover board so it wouldn't be an issue. Very easy to do. As for the connectors, I got rid of them and soldered the Xover lead wires to the inductor wires. I scraped off the thin coating of insulation, and then polished with 0000 steel wool before putting the iron to them. Worked great.

I wasn't sure if the floor would be the final resting place of the Solen's until I buttoned everything back up and gave a listen. I wanted the ability to move them if necessary, which the longer wires allowed - it wasn't necessary!

How do you plan to attach them to the floor?

So where did you put the inductors? I know DarqueKnight had a thread but it wasnt clear to me where the optimal placement should be

The magnetic flux pattern of the new Erse Super Q laminate steel core inductor is much more compact than that of air core inductors so their proximity to ferrous metal is much less important than it was in DK situation.

Still they are heavy and will be affected by metal if they are very close to it.

Ideally they shoulld be securely screwed down on the cabinet floor away from ferrous metal components with non-ferrous (non magnetic) fasterners.
