Have any of you fine folks been to the Macy's day parade?
We are thinking about heading to NYC for Thanksgiving and watch the parade. I have never attended a parade like this and not sure just what to expect and where to start. Sooooo I thought I'd ask my friends here for suggestions. I was told if I can arrive the night/afternoon before and watch them prepare the floats and inflate the characters thats damn cool.:cheesygrin:
Thanks

just get there early if you want a good spot....but I wouldn't waste a day just watching them inflate....the only time I would advise to go early would be december 31 1999....yep I was in the city and I drove my car.....Video: LG 55LN5100/Samsung LNT4065F

I have been a few times. As Devani said get there early to get the good spot. The last time I went I went into a McDonalds that had a 2nd floor and sat in there the whole time.

Went a few years ago and bought tickets for seats along the route.. we were right across the street from The Dakota and it was WELL WORTH it.......got lots of great pictures as we had a unobstructive view.....we got our tix off the CL

Lived in Manhattan for almost 12 years, I think I made one parade. Pretty much agree with Devani and Dave above. If you have kids, they'll enjoy it. As a bachelor, at the time, it was OK as a one time event. If I still had younger children I'd definitely consider an excursion for them!
Have fun...I'll be 'watching', on the tube, that is!
