I have a line on a set of 5jr that are in minty condish. They have the same number (57609) is this normal? Also, what is a set of these gems worth with the wood grain finish? They sure look nice in the photos. I think I'll have a look sometime this week but thought I'd consult the knowledge cup before going any further.

Thanks in advance, 1C

It's not abnormal....they are usually followed with a R or L to designate the right or left speaker. Is this the case? Post some photos, we love that stuff. Knowledge cup? This is more like a knowledge MUG....c'mon man, that hurts.

    Value? I'd say $100 mint.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Awesome!

No L/R designation but from the pics they look flawless (I know ...lol). He also said he'll look again but didn't see any signs of use at all. I asked of original boxes but no dice.

The fellow is asking $100 but I'm going to try 75 and see what happens. If all goes well I will certainly post pics. If it doesn't I'll try to repost his from the website.

    Thanks, 1C

It would seem logical that if a pair of speakers is sold seperately they will have different serial numbers. If they are sold together, as a pair in the same box, they are likely to have the same serial number. IIRC, 5Jr's were sold as a pair in the same box...........but memory is foggy from that far back.

IMO, $100 is a bit high, but then I'm cheap so.............. $75 is a better price IMO,............but again I'm cheap, I'd offer $50 and settle at $65.

Mine do not have the same numbers but since they came in the same box they are in numerical order.

Well I'll get them and see how they sound. I know, H, I'm cheap too but it sounds like I wont get hurt even if he is stubborn about the C note. I do wish they were black but I've not yet heard a set of the 5jr so curiosity will certainly win out over color coordination lol. Besides...I can always spray paint them black. I think I saw a detailed discussion on where to get black paint somewhere. (JK) Anyway, meeting scheduled for Friday so I'll report back on my acquisition shortly after.

    Thanks again Folks,

Monitor 5's and 5jr.'s are one of my all-time favorite speakers. Just like the Monitor 10's.

    ENJOY..

I just rehooked my Monitor 10's up again, and on speaker B setting is a pr. of Monitor 5 jr.'s.

Peerless on the 10's, reg. tweeter on the 5jr's but it was nice to hear em again..
I have a set of 5's in my Polk corner (I think) that I'll rehook up later next year.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

You sure it's wood? I thought they all had vinyl veneers.

It's a great speaker vinyl or otherwise, I just want to make sure you know what you're getting.

Actually no I'm not sure yet if they are wood or vinyl. I'll know more tomorrow...er. today lol. Ive heard good things about these jr's so 'm getting a bit anxious. You know , I'm also looking for a set of 8t if any one has a minty set they would part with. They would have to be black though on the 8's.

Well 49 hrs in 4 days. I'm hitting the rack.

Well, they are mint! There's one teeny tiny little scuff on the top of one about an inch long. you can barely feel it and hardly see it. The tweets are sl2000 (?) and honestly don't sound broke in. (Ouch harsh lol) I have an extra set of rdo from my 1C adventure that are on going in on my next trip to the fridge for a beer. They sound great for their size but obviously don't hold a candle to my C's so I'll have to find better placement for them. I'm off to take some pics and change tweets back in a bit.

Yea Joe08867 vinyl type...2 each lol. Polys are blown but I'll jump em so no harm no foul there. Still do well to near ear bleed volume though so really a non issue other than possible abuse. They rock out for sure

The ones in the pic are RDO but the original to the 5jr is the sl2000. I had an extra pair so I figured what the heck. The sl's that I removed are like new condish but are just so harsh after listening to the rdo.
