Banana Plugs Not Seating in Monitor 7 Jacks?

The speaker terminals on my new receiver accepts banana plugs, so I tried a set of speaker cables with banana plugs on both ends.

The plugs fit securely into the jacks on the back of the receiver, but when I tried the plugs on the Monitor 7, they "bottom out" before they're fully seated, and they don't feel very secure - what's up?

I've always used stripped wires before - I may have to go back to that method.

Thanks for any help.

Oops, I just noticed the subject/verb disagreement in my opening sentence. ("terminals... accepts")

    Sorry about that.

You're referring to the vintage Monitor 7 right? two driver with a passive radiator design....

It wouldn't surprise me since the binders for the older speakers are a bit shallow and a long shaft style banana would cause this exact issue. I'd suggest a different banana, locking style banana or just upgrade the binders, which you should do anyways. Analysis Plus, Phoenix Gold and Audioquest fit from my past experience.

Vampire Wire makes a BP-HEX binder that is practically a drop-in replacement with limited soldering skills needed.

If you only need 4 of the other style bananas, I may have some in my goody box that I can send you to try. If they work, we can figure out the details.

EDIT: I do have some if you want them. PM me with your shipping address, email and phone.

Yes, Mark, they're "vintage" Monitor 7: two drivers, Peerless tweeter, passive radiator (1982 models.)

And, although my soldering skills would certainly qualify as "limited", I'm not too thrilled about tackling the installation of new binding posts.

Thanks for the offer on the old style plugs - I'll PM you.
