A true innovator, one of the great men of audio.

Towards the end, my favorite quote 'A student of mine, Henry Kloss....'.

I spoke with Adam Sohmer earlier this evening, and he actually got to interview Villchur at his home in Woodstock for AR's 50th anniversary. It was sponsored (and confiscated) by Recoton. Apparently Edgar let loose on how they ruined the brand.
Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

inspiredsports almost literally took the words out of my mouth (OK, away from my fingertips). An amazing man, indeed. One of the last of the hifi titans (although last I knew one of his other "students", Roy Allison, is still around).

There was a pretty good interview with Villchur and Allison in Stereophile not all that many years back (2005):

A true legend....what I find most interesting is that Villchur was not an 'audio guy' per se......I think he just saw problems and looked for solutions and wasn't all that interested int he surrounding BS.

A very interesting figure...I didn't know much about this history, but what a combo that must have been, there, at the early AR: Villchur and Kloss.
