Looking to upgrade my center channel and Polk support says these models offer the closest timbre match to my 1C's with 194's in a cabinet designed to be a center channel. Prefer CS400i over CS400, and CS400 over CS1000P.

Thanks!

Seems to me you have your preferences backwards. (I know, the CS1000p is a beast.)

I've own or have owned all of these models. If you have the room and the cash, and can find one, the CS1000p will always win out. IMO, one of the best center channel speakers ever made. 87% on average of the sound info in a movie comes through the center channel (not the fronts) so spend your money there.

I can't tell the sonic difference between a CS400 and CS400i. The drivers are different colors (i's are blue)....that's about all (IMO, of course.) I've seen them under $100 recently, which is a pretty good deal.....I wouldn't sell my 'spare' for that.

They pop up on eBay all the time...just not right now. Hang in there and you'll find one. Took me two years to assemble my first RT5000 setup - then bought two more piecemeal within the next few months.

BTW, I just bought a CS100 for my keeping room system. Saw you have one in your setup now. Wish we could have connected earlier. I would have traded you.

Polk tech support said that the drivers/tweeters of the CS400i would be the closest match to the 1C's with the 194's, followed by the CS400, followed by the CS1000p. I am merely trusting the information support gave me

Still looking for a CS400i. I thought I had one from Ebay but I was sniped 3 seconds before the auction expired. The owner lived just a few miles away from me also.

CS400i for $50-60 is as good of deal you'll find, you better snag it.

Maybe I read it wrong... I thought he was saying it'd be $50-60 just in shipping and packaging materials, plus the cost of the actual speaker. If that price is total shipped to 32751, ignore my PM and I'll take it!

I had already bought a cs400i online Sunday night for the same shipped price as the one offered above. Hopefully when it arrives it'll be as described. *crosses fingers* Wish I could have gotten the one which was 20 miles away instead of 2000 miles away but hopefully it all works out.

I received my CS400i today, took it home over my lunch hour and installed it. Physical size is impressive, needed to lower the center level about 5db compared to the old CS100. Leaving it as 'large' for now. Next step, new surround speakers  Thanks for all the offers!

I have the same situation. I have some old polk s10 speakers and polk support said the cs400 is the best center to match. If anyone is still selling theirs I will pay for the shipping to canada. Let me know. If I am wrong on the speaker match let me know as well. You can email me.
