Hi to everyone. i recently purchased lsi15 FS. purpose for this is for a 2 channel audio set up. currently, my friend lend his vintage luxman l-85V to drive them but sooner or later, he will get it back for his own set up. can someone recommend a good amp aside from the luxman (aside from the one's mentioned from the FAQ)? as what i've read, they need to have at least 200-300watts at 4ohms to maximize the power of the 15's. kindly include, if ever, vintage amp/integrated, i think they look better and sounds better  TIA!

    Hi PolkiDoki,

I'm new here too but kind of in the same boat as you, after researching many avrs and going from nr609 to 809 to yamaha a2000 etc, it dawned on me i need an amp more than an avr, so i opted for the emotiva xpa-5 and a cheaper yam rx-v667 and let the amp do all the driving and let the avr do the processing and upgrade the avr later on if i want/need.

im too knew to mention you exact models, but the emovita seem the cheapest and most powered, the xpa-2/3/5 models.

other cheap receivers with preouts i looked at was onk 708/709, the yam 667 767 867, the yam is on at newegg for $267 the rest between 350-400.

the price of 267 made it easier to say yes to the emovita xpa-5

Vintage is certainly cool but unless you are willing to spend some coin to bring them up to snuff after decades of who knows what, then I wouldn't waste my time.
If the LSI line is your huckleberry, you need an amp,and a receiver with preouts to add the amp, thats the bottomline. The RTI line is more receiver friendly, with maybe the exception of the A9's. A budget would certainly help in the suggestions you get, otherwise they'll be all over the place.

If you play at moderate volume, the Emo amps will do. However, once you try to reach reference volume, those Emo amps will begin to show their limiting capability. I know that because I owned both the Emotiva XPA-2 and XPA-5 and used them to power my LSi's. That was why I sacrificed some heavy dough to move to other brands.
Gears shared to both living room & bedroom:

just to follow up my question regarding the prices of amp/pre...currently, i have marantz sr8001, i am using this to power up my 7.1 channel deftech speakers. if ever, is it possible to buy the emo and connect it to avr? and at the same time, the 7.1 speakers are hooked up to marantz directly.will it not push the 8001 to its limit if incase i will be using them on both HT and 2channel audio alternately.
you've got a good bargain for the emo at 267dollars......how i wish i could be able to get them too.TIA!
