Midrange not working on surround speakers

Hello,

I just bought a 5.1 polk audio package with the center speaker, 2 rears, 2 fronts, and subwoofer. My subwoofer is working fine. The 4 speakers only want to play sound out of the tweeters when the volume is loud. I can not get the mids to work at all. I have tried old speakers and they work fine so it's not the receiver or wire. Does anyone have any advise why the tweeters would work but the mids wouldn't?

    Polk makes many speakers, it would be a big help if you told us what model speakers you are having problems with.
