Am I Just Vinyl Crazy?

I've been into vinyl for almost a year and I'm finding that vinyl is becoming more and more popular and accessible. I went to a local record show over the weekend and was pleased to see quite a few young (teenagers) shopping for records. Is it just in my head or is it really happening?
Thanks to Fireshoes for letting me know that CC sells vinyl online. I wonder if they'll ship north of the border?

ive heard that a good turntable can bring out the natural sound in music and that digital sounds the opposite, i just upgraded to dvd audio and nothing can compare to the sound that dvd/a brings out in music, just need to get the masses into it so we can get more titles

I've seen some school age kids in the record store here too. Pretty cool. Plus you don' thave to worry about all the stupid **** copy protection crap. Now if they would fine tune that record scanner technology hehe.

I like CDs!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

How much actual pressing of vinyl is still going on? NA vs. Europe?
And where will it lead? Home taping, cassette decks in cars...More later,

I was actually thinking of going the Madmax route and eventually burn some vinyl on CD.
I've been seeing quite a few new album coming out on vinyl. Radiohead, White Stripes, Pearl Jam, i'm sure there's more. I seem to remember someone saying they got Linkin park on vinyl too.SDA-2a, Anthem Pre-2L, Anthem Amp 1, MF A324 DAC, Rotel RCD1070

Yeah, CD copies are a good way to go.
Where is all the new vinyl coming from? I'd think most of the major pressing plants are long gone.More later,

That's me. I have Hybrid Theory and Meteora on vinyl. Reanimation is also available but I haven't picked it up yet. There is lots of new material on vinyl. -
Did you pick them up at CC?SDA-2a, Anthem Pre-2L, Anthem Amp 1, MF A324 DAC, Rotel RCD1070

I think I got Meteora from CC and HT off ebay. I buy a lot of stuff from a local record store too.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but I have a feeling that the teenagers in the record stores are all amateur DJ's not looking for fidelity, their looking for compatibility and looking for the ability to "scratch". 2 cheap tables and a mixer are all thats needed to run a party rig (for sources anyways), and with records you can "scratch" or attempt to make music by moving the record back and forth. Linkin park has tracks which feature this type of music and thats probably why its on CD.
I'm not a proponent of vinyl at all. The only real experience i have had with it is my dad's mid-fi table running some old led-zepp records he didnt have on CD. I understand you can get better sound from vinyl compared to some newer technologies, but it still seems like overclocking a 486, or customizing windows 3.1, to put it in computer terminology. with new formats like DVDA and SACD, and DACs getting better and cheaper, vinyl shouldnt have any advantages on the new stuff. -
It shouldn't but it does. DVDA and SACD are still way too new for me to jump on that band wagon. Do yourself a favor and hit a Hifi store that sells high end TTs and have a demo.
I have a vintage Thorens TT and a newer Rotel RCD1070 CD player. The CD player cost me 4-5 times the amount I spent on the TT and I prefer the TT over the CD player. On principle alone I should be bias towards the CD player.
I never though of the scratching. That's scary. I'll have to put my vinyl buying in overdrive I guess and save some poor old records' lives before they get defiled.SDA-2a, Anthem Pre-2L, Anthem Amp 1, MF A324 DAC, Rotel RCD1070

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhh
I didn't see that one coming.
So here's the verdict....
The increase of vinyl accessibility may be caused by these kids scratching, Right? I might not be crazy.
Or the fact that I'm willing to snatch up some extra vinyl in the quest to increase my collection and save the vinyl? I Must be vinyl crazy.
