Are they pick up only? Or would you consider shipping them?
-
I guess I could ship them. Would be a chore and quite costly. With packing, probably 100lbs a piece. Not sure what it would cost exactally, but I would guess between 125-150 bucks for both pieces, if not more.

Eek. That IS a lot of cash. I wonder if this is maybe a little ambitious...
Do you still have the original boxes and packing? With those, they'd do rather well in transit...

I do not have original packaging. I am second owner and the guy I bought them from didn't either. Bought them local and transported them in my CRV (barely). I do live down the street from a UPS hub and they have all sorts of packing stuff. I ship a lot from there and they are pretty good to me. Probably wouldn't cost me much for the packaging material.

I guess my chief concerns are: not having heard them first, and hoping that get here in good shape (assuming they're terrific shape to start off with). You never know what can happen in transit, and I'd hate to be stuck.
And I've had a bad experience with UPS, where they actually left some things I ordered in front of my house, to be claimed by anyone. Thankfully, I got home before anyone tried to oO
It makes sense that you suggested local pick-up first and foremost. I'll talk to a few friends who know this stuff more than I do to see what they think about shipping speakers like this... -
Yes, I would have concerns about shipping something of this size as well. I have shipped many things from there, through Amazon and Ebay. Also, have sent numerous items to my son who is the the Air Force.
Never had an issue, but with this size and weight...i dunno.
They are in VCG. All drives sound as the should and there are no dings or scratches worth noting.
Nice speakers, but need A LOT of power. Love them for HT, but I listen to a lot of music as well and they sound too "bright, cold, mechanical" however you want to say it. Used to my RTA 8Ts, which have a warmer, smoother tone.
If you really want the RTi 12s, I would look local to listen and then check out options on Ebay? Think there is a decent deal with free ship. -
I checked with my buddy and he said that UPS also had brokerage fees on top of everything. Is that true? I'd be curious to know how much the total would be with shipping...
To be honest, if the total cost is palatable, I'm still considering it. When you say that there are no dings or scratches "worth noting", what do you mean exactly? That's very subjective... do you have pictures? -

It's funny you say that. I've heard the RTi8s and I've found the same. But it's such an improvement over my old speakers, it's hard to resist. And, anyway, it depends ono the kind of music you listen to... it's great for electronic music. -

This is true. The type of music does make a difference. Here are some better pics if you are still interested. BTW let me know where they would be shipping to and I can get a better estimate of how much shipping would cost. -
Thanks for the pics. I can't see the dings or scratches you were referring to, though...
Anyway, I just sent you an email with more details. Looking forward to knowing how much shipping would be -
Just checked online. UPS would cost 300.00 and FedEx 380.00. Not cheap.
-
Ouch. That quite a lot of cash.
Aw, that's a shame. Well, thanks for looking into it, deronb1.
And best of luck selling them. At that price, it shouldn't be long at all -
If shipping large items like the 12s I would recommend looking at a freight company to do a transport. I've used conway and worked out just fine for me. I've had it come to my place and dropped it off and I've also gone thru my friends car dealership and had something done there as wel with no issues. Also was less expensive. Just a thought
-
Thanks for the tip, cstmar01. I really would like to buy these, but it's become cost-prohibitive for me with shipping. I'll have to explore this option. Thanks again

Kenwood amp and CSi25 center have sold. 400.00 on the RTi12s. Still prefer local p/u on these. PSW350 90.00
-
I wish I lived down the street from you .Those rti12's are kings when it comes to HT and I have always wanted a pair for my little videogame/HT room
-
They are very nice for HT. I am prob 70-30 music though. The mids and highs are just a bit harsh for my liking. Going to get RDO-198s for my RTA8Ts after I get these sold.
-
and to give you an idea too if you find someone that is willing to do freight. It makes a large difference if its delivered at their home or picked up from the company. I just had a quote on my A9's and it came back 250 or so for me to drop off at conway and for pick up at conway with 2 day delivery. Otherwise it was 360 bucks if I dropped off and then was delivered curbside.

Really? I had looked upo a quote and it was outrageously expensive so I gave up. I'll have to look into that option because I'm interested. For sure... -
Call them for a quote is the way I would do it.
