Eico 2080

So I was bored the other day and put up a wanted ad on CL for audio gear. Last night I got an email from a guy saying he has a tube amp and reciever that I could have for free. Today went over and picked them up and the amp is a Eico 2080. Dusty, needs some clean up but otherwise not bad condition.
The other was a Bell, not sure the model but that was beat up pretty good. Anyone here use the Eico? I see on AK that there was a guy that did a mod to one and other's saying they are not too bad. I don't have the proper gear to try it out and test so this will be a journey into how to do those things lol.
So what do I need to start out with to bring this into working condition? It still has all the tubes but the faceplate was disconnected from the body and I'm missing the front knobs. The rest looks pretty good with no rust or anything. Seeing its been sitting for awhile I know its going to take some time. Otherwise if its a lot of stuff I would need to obtain I know a guy 30 mins from me that will do a rebuild for me with no probs.

A variac for sure and a scope and a DVM, a tube tester, etc. Perhaps a schematic and an old pair of speakers you don't care about in case you toast them bringing this back to life. If you don't anything about how tube amps work, best to leave it to a professional or start doing a lot of homework. Not for the faint of heart.
When you coming to Rockford?

The 2080 uses 7591 output tubes like my Eico ST-70 which I've completely rebuilt and modded. It now sounds spectacular for a 50 year old piece and I'd put it up against many of today's tube offerings. I think you have a great unit to revive since it cost you nothing. If it has the original Mullard tubes and they test well at very least you could make some decent coin off it. There is a wealth of information at this forum:

The above advice about a variac to start it up is very very good.
Good luck and have fun.

Brock when do you want me to stop by? Do you guys have any RAS meetings coming up?
and I don't have anything to start to repair this. I did see this: http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=376501
I really dig the mod and think that would be cool. He did the one with a cage and simple front face. I'm going to see what the guy local to me can do and what not. I know he does a lot of kit builds and recently did some SS amp work. I also found some more Thiel CS2's for 75 bucks that are in better shape than mine. Might have to go and pick those up too! -
Just looked for at the bell. It's not a receiver it's a all tube am/fm tuner. Still looks like in ok condition all the tubes are there and everything as well
