I cant keep the grills on my rti150, Polk was suppose to send me a new one but never did! I wonder if it hurts the spk to just leave them off? Would dust hurt the sound? Grills are for keeping KIDS from sticking things in the spks thanks

Grills off won't hurt at all. Personally, I like the look of a speaker without the grills......

The only way that dust would -hurt- your speaker is if you let it build up and cake on and crust up to where the sound would have to be going through all that crap. If you dust them fairly regularily, you'll be fine without the grills.

Either way though, I'd follow up with Polk to find out what the delay is so that if you do eventually want them on, you have them.

Only thing with speakers is sometimes they have some sticky glue bits leftover around the edges where the center cap is glued to the cone or the cone is glued to the surround, etc... If you get a flake of dirt, ash, etc.. on there it won't come off. It won't affect the sound, but it won't look so great either.

Grills are mostly for keeping kids & pets away from your delicate cones. If you don't have either, or aren't prone to throwing things around your room or drunken binges where you stumble into the furniture... ... you can probably leave them off. Just dust them often.

I leave mine on most of the time, but take them off occasionally if I'm going to watch a hot new movie with lots of s/fx that I just bought :)

    dt,
Some grills help create the speaker's "sound" and/or soundstage. I have not found this to be the case with the Polks I own.
