    I kept looking out for a nice used Kuro, but none were ever local or even within a couple hours drive. I would hate to risk shipping one of those beauties. I settled for the Samsung PNC8000 at a very reduced price over the Sharp Quattron, but the Sharp did impress me.

    Make no mistake a Sharp Quattron is not an Elite, not even close.

    And mantis: in all fairness the Elites ended up at Best Buy for one reason, they probably werent selling enough in other channels. Elites did well in Canada, but they sold hundreds a week when the market had shifted to thousands a week.

    I would buy a Kuro in a heartbeat if I could find a 60" but I can't, or it's used for 65% of its retail. I have a hard Time spending that ona video product. But I love tech old or new, geez I've started laserdisc threads within the last two years lol...

    Is color accuracy a problem inherent in the Quattron technology? The extra yellow being better for pop but not for accurate color reproduction?

    So with the new Quattron technology, having the extra yellow color added, does this set now have a 4 colored component output or I'm not understanding something here?

    Not sure Cheddar. The biggest chuckle was it was THX certified, and THX was there at the event. I would have loved to see people ask how THX could certify a display with known color issues.

    Nothing changed in the source information. So the signal coming from a blu-ray player contains the same color information that it sends to all other TVs. What Sharp did was take the regular signal and through its own digital voodoo at the TV mix in some yellow to supposedly make its colors pop more. IMO, it seems to invite the inaccurate color response observed. But I have no idea why the set in the shootout actually failed the color tests.

    Went back to best buy today, picked up a B-day present for the love of my life. Strolled back over to the Elite 70 incher to take another look see. Picture was way better than the first time I looked at it. In comparison, next to it was a samsung 60 incher at 2500 bones. Have to tell ya, while the Sharp elite was slightly better, and I do mean slightly, the Elite was almost 3 times the price. Also looked at the Sharp Aquos 60 incher with that same tech of adding the yellow, pic was god awfull,terrible. Now I'm just wondering if they do this crap on purpose, make everything else look sub par to push another flavor of the week. All the Sony's looked good, just can't get past that soap opera effect they make all their TV's look like these days. For me, I see nothing substantially better than my Kuro and for the average joe to plunk down that kinda coin, it has to be.

    I like the last statement in the article..

    I have been watching this set and so far it has been getting high reviews..

    Only issue is the price but I am thinking with the holidays, price will fall a bit.
