Have I lost my mind?

I think either I've lost my mind or maybe people on Ebay don't know a good deal from a bad one. I listed the attached Dynaco ST-70 for $550, this thing is the prettiest
Ebay 004.jpg
ST I've ever seen, plus fully updated. I didn't get a single bid, only side deal offers at hundreds less. Four months ago I sold a so so ST for $500. So my question is, I'm I crazy for thinking this ST is worth the money asked? Or is it people don't know a good deal when they see it?

I don't think most ebayers are looking for a good tube amp. I've seen SS receivers go for a lot more than what you're asking....a lot of fadism...what's hot this week. An as is HK 930 brought almost 450 last week? And I got my 730 for about a less than a fourth of that--not a huge difference between those two pieces?

Maybe you're better off selling that on Audiogon where some are, at least, looking for 'tubes'!

I'm seeing the same here. People I know and also read about, they're all pumped up about how they paid 10X's less than what something is worth. I had a guy call me to buy something and he wanted me to break up a set. I said sure I could break it up but the amp would be 250.00 then.......OH is all he said. Then he asked if I had a set of speakers advertized. Yes I do. He asked, do they work?. Of course they do. And your price?. My price is firm, just like the ad SAID.

    Good grief!

People are hurting everywhere and theres a few who have money that think they're super rare and think people should accept their LOW BALL offers as if they are our last hope of selling something before starvation sets in.

    Good grief!

Good luck with your sale. Some of us can still hold on to some things for another a year or three.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

There is a lot of competition in that price range. The inputs being in front always turned me away. That is a pretty amp though. Are those updated trannys?

The good news for me is I don't have to sell, I may put this amp up on another site or just enjoy it myself. I've got a great little Pas pre to go with it and I'm sure I've some speakers around somewhere.

I've noticed on Ebay, not just stereo equipment, that items with high starting bids or buy it now, don't get any bids at all. Then I see the same item listed again, with no starting bid, and it sells for more than the original listing. Sometimes even higher than the item can be purchased new. I think people want to think they may get a good deal, and then the bidding war ensues.

I think you may have something WilliamM2, it seems a little silly but who knows what some buyers are thinking. I'm still looking for someone to tell me $550 is to much for this amp. If it's priced wrong let me know.

I think it priced more than fair and the psychology of eBay has to be considered.

I totally agree with this Cayuga, I don't think what your asking is too high at all, it's a great price for that lovely amp. It's risky to offer it without a BIN or at $1.00 to start, you'll have to decide if your willing, it could go either way (if you do that, I'd wait a few weeks personally). Good Luck to you with it!
