    RIP Mr. Davis.

Thanks for the Raiders image. Always liked that team for some reason. I think the black and silver colors looked intimidating..
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

While I'm sure many don't care for the way he did things. His life was football.

Just a couple highlights from his early career, that some may not know:
    - O Line Coach Adelphi College - 1950 - 1951
    - Head Coach US Army team - Ft. Belvoir 1952 - 1953
    - O Line Coach at The Citadel - 1953 - 1956
    - O End Coach Southern California 1957 - 1959
    - O End Coach - Chargers (Los Angeles / San Diego) 1960 - 1962
    - General Manager / Head Coach - Raiders - 1963 - 1965 - Named AFL Coach of the Year 1963
    - AFL Commissioner - 1966

At this time the lowly AFL, was looked down upon by the mighty NFL. Due to Al's wrangling of key NFL players, the NFL decided the AFL could really be a threat to their livelihood and decided that perhaps a merger was the best way for the NFL to survive. Al resigned as commissioner in 1966, since he was against the merger (the merger talks were held without him).

    - Buys minority stake in Raiders (10%) - 1966 (Does not obtain majority stake till 2005)
    - Inducted into the Football Hall of Fame - 1999

Raiders have been my team, regardless of where I have lived since the days of John Madden coaching.

RIP Al. You will be missed.
