center suggestion
I'm moving the infinity's that have been my rear channels to another room. This means that the RT7s that have been dual centers are moving to the rear. So I need a suggestion for a center. The mains are RT55s and the front effects (Yamaha A-1) are RT15is. Should I look for a CS400 on Ebay or will a CS400i or newer speaker mate well?
Thanks!
Brad
PS - I have been running the dual RT7s in an above and below setup with about 4' between them. Am I going to be losing much going to a single center?
Thanks!

a 400 will be an excellent match with your 55's which is an outstanding speaker. I have no experience with the 7's though... perhaps someone else can chime in here?

I have the 7's up front with the CS400i center. It's a great match. Your 55's and the 7's have the tri-laminate dome tweeter. The 400i has the tri-lam tweeter also so it would mate up well with your 55's and 7's. I don't know which tweeter the 400 has. Have you done a search on ebay to find a 400i?

the CS400 has the tri-lam as well. it is the center to match my 55s (same woofers, pre blue ones) I am having a hard tim finding one so I have beeen wondering about a CS40i or a pair of RT38is. I have been away from the board for a while so maybe this is an old question but, what happened to the bezels on the CS40i? The CS400i had one to match the other Polk speakers. And shouls you mix speakers with and without the bezel?
Thanks!

A local CC has a CS400i for 200, if I hadn't just bought a CS245i for my rear I would have pulled the trigger on it. Look around hard enough and you may be able to find one.
I have a feeling CC's are going to have older speakers start pop'n up in the next frew months. I think a lot of people are going to be using their 12 month upgrade policey and once CC gives the older speakers a workover to make sure they are up to par they will start filling their showrooms with them at some great prices.
I am new to this whole system so I may also be way off on this.Front

how about a pair of rt38is for either dual center or rear channel? I could pick up a pair for 200.

faster,
I have thought about that as well. I can pick up a CS40 for 300.
I have wondered how the 40 would mate with my 55s. I assume they have the same tweeter, but was wondering about the whole bezel thing. So for three hundred I could get a CS40i and move the RT7s to the rear. Or for 200 I could get the RT38is and then have to decide whether the RT7s (the bigger of the two) or the RT38is get the job of center. I'm assuming the RT7s or two RT38is would be a more robust set up than the CS40i but maybe I'm wrong.
Thanks for all the input!

So I was just checking a few specs and realized that the RT38is are -3db @49Hz and efficiency is 89db. Which is the same spec as my RT7s. The RT7s have a bigger woofer and a bigger cabinet. So I've been wondering if the newer drivers are that much better? How close are they going to sound to each other? And if you had the option for either one which would yo choose?
Thanks!
