    Someone posted about these a while back. They are cute but 1500 is a bit pricey even for Magnepan.

    Not for the true ribbon tweeters that they employ. The cheapest Magnepan to ever use the true ribbon, before these, was the 3.6, and it ran 4-5K. In the current lineup, the cheapeat Maggie other than these that uses that true ribbon is the 3.7 which runs 5.5k.

    It was me. They look interesting and I wouldnt mind hearing them just for giggles. I do lots of nearfield listening so they might be just what my desk needs :smile:

    And the 3.7 has been very favorably compared to the Magico Q5 at $50K!! The bass only going to 40Hz is it's 'weakness'. Since I mostly listen to classical, I almost bought a pair, but figured the cats would have a field day.

    #10 spam go away and sorry didn't see this was posted before. I think they would be interesting to hear. I always forget maggies are really close and I wonder if they do give a tour of the factory as White Bear Lake, MN isn't all that far away from me..

    I think it would be a cool process to watch and just go and see the plant. I think ARC is also over in MN so maybe gotta do a round trip lol.

    I heard these at a local dealer today and it just confirms how much I dislike Magnepans (even when played in treated room with some of the best electronics money can buy). I also auditioned (for lack of a better word) the 3.7's and the big monsters, 20.1. The mini maggies were auditioned through Anthem gear and with a DWM woofer, the 3.7's were auditioned through massive Krell Monoblocks, and the monster 20.1's were auditioned through insanely massive Audio Research tube amplifiers (Reference 610T which are $40,000 a pair). I didn't like the sound of any of them to be honest.

    I did however audition some Wilson speakers (Sasha's) that I never heard before and the speakers absolutely disappeared. I brought along a non-audiophile friend and he didn't like any of the Magnepan's as well, but was shocked to hear the Wilson's and believed there were hidden speakers like he was a part of some joke we were playing on him. The speakers didn't only have this insane effect but they were downright warm and unique sounding.

    Anyway, just my two penny's.

    I worked there... not much to see. It is really a very low tech operation the way they are built, or at least it was when I was there.

    yep... the summer before I left for the Marine Corps. I was the guy that laid the wires across the mylar film and glued them in place. We called the glue "robin's egg" because of the color, but the stuff turned an ugly brown/black over time as it dried out and was exposed to the elements. It was th efirst job I had that paid more than minimum wage. 6 bucks an hour and I was king of the hill.

    Wilson is OK but over priced for what they are. I like maggies thats why I posted this.
