Who wants $100?

A very close friend of mine, Tim Wisecup, has the opportunity of a lifetime in front of him. He was selected as one of four finalists (out of 2.5 MILLION entrants) to win the Pepsi Max Field of Dreams contest. The person who obtains the most votes over a three week period wins and gets to host the Field of Dreams in their hometown.

I met Tim almost 8 years ago when I first starting working with him. Tim is, without a doubt, the nicest guy you could ever meet. He's always there for you when you're in a bind and when you need a good laugh just approach his desk and you're in for a great story! I've never heard Tim say a bad thing about another individual and he's extremely laid back and easy going. A great friend. I owe him a lot so I thought of this great idea.

Tim was called by the local Pepsi rep yesterday and was told he is neck-in-neck with one other person in the contest. No doubt, I want Tim to win. So, I thought of this idea to give him something back. I'm going to hold a raffle. You are permitted to vote 50 times per day for the person you want to win. However, and even as the Pepsi rep told Tim, you can just delete your browsing cookies and vote an unlimited amount of times. That would explain the 900,000 votes he and the other guy have received so far!

Here's what I'm proposing and offering. For every time you vote for Tim 50 times (one set) you get one chance in the raffle to win. Do not post how many times you voted until the voting is closed OR if you decide to quit early. So, if you voted 30x (1500 total votes) you would reply to this message with "30" in the body. This is going solely on a trust basis and I know I can trust you guys to not cheat. The way tickets will be given out is say Mr. X replies first and says 55. He gets tickets 1-55. Then John Doe says 35. He gets tickets 56-90. Simple. I will be using an automated online site that will pick a random number to determine the winner.

The prize? A $100 prepaid debit card shipped to your house.

Yes, that's a lot, but I'm hoping there's going to be a huge amount of participation here. I've timed myself and I can vote 50 times in about 4 minutes. Do it a few times here and there and you can easily get in a few thousand votes while watching television.

Voting is open until midnight tomorrow night, Wednesday October 4th.

The only bad news, and I have to be totally upfront because that's the type of person I am, is I will be posting this to two more forums. It only makes sense to get as much word of this out there as possible. $100 is a lot for a single income family of four but this is something that's worth it to me and knowing what it's going to do for Tim is outstanding!

Thanks for your time and consideration and thanks for any votes you cast. Every single one will help!

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Thanks to everyone for their votes this far. There are a couple of hours left to get some more votes in so if you have some time and want a chance to win please vote quickly!

Also, yes, there is a 50 vote limit. BUT, the Pepsi guy even told Tim that you can delete your cookies and vote again. Tim and the other guy that is neck-in-neck had over 900,000 votes in 2 weeks. There's no way anyone is playing fair! Just saying :)

Thanks again. This means a lot!

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D
