I'm dropping new MWs into some Monitor 10Bs and basically need to know which tab does the black wire(s) connect to? Positive or negative?
The Black wire connected to the tab marked with a dot of red paint on the original drivers.

Thanks guys!

There's a way to determine this using a battery. I used a AA. Hook the battery positive to one speaker terminal and the battery negative to the other. Note which way the speaker moves - in or out.

If it moves out and stays there you have determined the polarity - whichever terminal the positive side on the battery is connected to is the positive. If it moves in, reverse the leads, to confirm the postive terminal.

    See link: http://www.techguys.ca/howto/speaker.html

Thanks, I completely forgot about that method. I tried listening for phasiness but my sinus infection has got me about 3/4 deaf! Got it right finally. Thanks for your input. I think they will sound pretty good when my hearing returns.

So are you replacing them with the same MW model.....or doing something different?

I replaced two 1989 6503s with new 6503s. Each speaker now has a new and an old midwoofer. I may rearrange the new MWs to one speaker and the old to the other speaker so I can listen for any difference(s). IOW, new 6503 in the left channel and old 6503 in the right channel. I'm guessing the older ones would sound better until the new ones loosen up. Love the fact that Polk still provides replacements!
