Yes, i know both of them have a lot of different flavours in different price ranges but in general - which would you preffer? And why?
I also have a feeling a lot of people will want to say "there's lots of better stuff out there, why limit yourself to JB or JD?" but for the sake of the thread let's keep it at JB vs JD please.

    JD all the way.......

cant stand JB, but i think that is because i got really sick off of it when i first joined the navy (18 years old).......

BTW i was at a GTG and i got to try some Grean Label JD. i had a few drinks in me so it was hard to tell the difference. never seen the green label bottle before.

I'm not really a Whiskey man (prefer the smoothness of fine brandies and cognacs). But when I do drink Whiskey, Jack Daniels, of course!

Not that it matters much, but JD was Sinatra's favorite!

If you are a JD fan you need to make a trip to the distillery. Grew up 14 miles from there. Lynchburg is a neat town as well.

Can't comment because if liquor is brown I will puke.

    right there with you Larry....

My buddies used to drink JD but when they watered down the proof from 92-96 to 80 most abandon ship for knob creek or Makers Mark.

JD! I love the charcoal-mellowed flavor.

I prefer Maker's Mark to both of them though.

    JD all the way.

I'm a firm believer that the JD single barrel is one of the best deals out there...

If I can't get Wellers 107 JD is often my choice. I don't like JB at all..........Old Crow is better and costs less.

But to answer the original question: JD no question!

Wow, pretty much entire CP is pro-Jack lol.
Reason this same JB vs JD conversation was brought up is because me and some friends were drinking the other day and went into this conversation. Both drinks had their own “pros and cons” among me and my friends so I decided to see what other people think of it.

JB and JD are the 2 whiskeys you can get just about anywhere hence why I asked to keep it at these 2 brands as they are very common (not necessarily the best, I know)
I’m not one of the people that drink whiskey the way it “should be” – smell, taste, sip, room temperature.... most of the time it’s shots and I actually prefer it to be cold, not room temperature (I’m sure I’ll get “u’re not drinking it right” replies here lol)

That said I favor Jim. It tastes better to me AND (probably most important) I never get hangovers with it. Doesn’t matter how many shots I drink, even to the point of not remembering stuff from last night I wake up in the morning like I didn’t even go out last night – no sickness of any kind at all. NONE. I can literally run laps in the morning after drinking lots of Jim lol. Unfortunately can’t say the same when drinking Jack. There haven’t been a single morning without Jack Daniels’ headache.

So yeah, JB for me but that’s because I don’t “drink it the right way”.

JB if I had a choice between the two, but the mention of Knob Creek and Makers Mark is right on; both great for sipping and better than both JD and JB.

JB is a great substitute when JD is not available.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

If you want a real treat try Stranahan's Colorado sipping whiskey. Amazing taste, though the price is a shocker.

I love reading the alternate suggestions to the original post, as if, he's asking for Carver vs Adcom....you can bet someone will throw a Nakamichi curveball or....well I wish I had something cool that Bob Carver did vs Nelson Pass, just can't find it anywhere in audio history.

This is a tough choice, I really like both. JD is a little smoother on the rocks but with coke I'll take JB.

If you haven't tried it check out Jim Beam Red Stag. It is regular Beam infused with cherry. Very tasty

Is it "natural" cherry or does it feel like concentrate? My wife cant stand straight whiskey but tried JD Honey on the rocks today and liked it a lot. If cherry feels natural and theres minimum burn I think she will like it as well.
I actually wanna try it to lol

I heard the JD Honey is excellent, but I am still a single barrel guy myself. I have heard that the green label is like the unicorn, a few have sited it, but none have forwarded me the tangible goods.
