Scanspeak Illuminators. Theyre $700 for a pair of mids, $250 for a pair of tweeters and youll have to build a sealed enclosure for them to go in to. And youll have to have an active crossover because they dont come with one of their own.

"Best" is in the eye/ear of the beholder. There is no definitive "best" anything, it's all subjective. When you ask a question like this, the answers will always be what folks think is "best" to them in their system.Their suggestions may or may not be "best" for you.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

Yeah there kinda is. There may not be a single best that everybody will agree on but it'll be down to 3 or 4 at the most if its people that have actually heard lots of different brands. Scan and Morel will always be at the top with the occasional Dynaudio, Focal or Seas.

i think Focal Utopia Be No.7 is a better choice for his 1997 Crown Vic. :)

    Meh!! Bullies

Thought about posting first up in this one, but then walked. Seriously though, its funny the kind of questions people ask.

Here's a guy who wants to install 2 each of 12" + 8" + 6.5" + 3" + 1" drivers and is desperately trying to figure out how to hook it all up. Why does he want to do this? Because he can, he has the space / placement and he feels that this way he is covering all 10 octaves with drivers best suited for each range. Here.

This is one in which I got really worked up. Mindsets are stronger than steel!! Here.

Then of course you have questions like:

SQ of amp A vs amp B Here I've actually met this OP. He had just installed his p-99 and it was my first shot at tuning a p-99. I told him to upgrade his speakers and focus on tuning. But he's a nice young kid who wants plug and play good sound. Easy meat for one of the larger audio distributors here. I think he blew up a couple of grand on a sinfoni amp and rainbow mid with the hat tweet.

What I really found funny was guys comparing the Sinfoni to a Tru. Full blooded, Italian, velvety smoothness vs the clinical sound of the Tru. Damn these amp makers have even ripped off the voicing characteristics of speakers and stuck them on amps :

We all started out not knowing crap.

I cringe when I think of some of the installs I did back when I was 17 and 18 and had no clue so I cant bang on anybody too hard.

    slvr19,
The best speakers.... Hmmmm. Lets see.. That question, and the answers you will get will be pretty subjective. The best way to find out what the best speakers are, would be to go to an audio shop, and listen to severl different brands. The only person who can determine what sounds best, is you. Plus depending on what you are willing spend will also determine what you can get. My vote would be Polk Audio MM6501, or the MM651, or maybe the Dxi. Most of all the major audio brands like kenwood, pioneer, alpine etc all make good speakers, and sound pretty good. But again it will be subjective, because you may like the kenwoods over the alpines, and like the polk audio over the kenwoods or what not. What Mac says about the best thus far (Scanspeak) he is right. However if you are going to spend that much money, you had better make sure you install is top notch. Hope this helps..

    Thanks.

No, markjason has the one with the Hormel Corporation SPAM sound system. I hear that it sounds quite tinny...
