Line Level Controllers

Hey guys,
new to the forum here and I had a question about my setup. Currently I am running a Denon DRA-397 stereo receiver into vintage Avid 102 speakers, with the Denon ASD-11R iPod dock. I'm looking to upgrade to the TSI-500s and to add an Adcom GFA-555. My problem is that the receiver only has pre-outs for zone2, and zone3, which doesn't bother me except that I can only work the volume for these zones with the remote, and the EQ and pure direct mode don't apply to these pre-outs. Is there a line-level controller available that someone could recommend, or will that mess with sound quality? I'm also accepting suggestions for a turntable, and cd changer under $200 each. Any information will be highly appreciated,

About the only way I can see doing what you are asking is to convert the speaker level outs to line level. If you do a search for "speaker level to line level converter" you'll see there are a number of black boxes out there which will accomplish this. Sound quality you ask? Don't know, haven't tried one. The purist in me would probably upgrade the receiver before using one of these.

have you tried take these preouts and connect them to Ext-in? then select your main source as Ext-in, now you can control the Vol of Zone2/3 with the main vol control.

But if you want to apply EQ, then instead of connecting them to Ext-in, use one of the available inputs.

I heard that Denon don't suggest this route because there may be noise. I honestly haven't tried yet.

I'm not sure what Ext-in is, so I'm sure I haven't tried it. Sorry for the ignorance. I included the pic.
