Monitor 10s in my GARAGE!

Today I picked up a pair of Monitor 10s that I found on CL. I had been looking for something big to put out there and came close a couple of times to moving on some Cerwin Vegas and Klipsch. But I ended up with these, since they seemed to be in fine condition. I'm not exactly sure what model they are (A, B, or C), since the guy selling them told me that he fried the tweeters and crossovers about 10 years ago, and went to Polk to replace them. The current tweets are SL-1000s. Wow, do they sound nice out there! Really nice, full sound. Smooth highs with great low end.
My garage project is almost complete. I'm putting ceiling tiles up now. In a week or two, I'm planning an epoxy for the floor. I built the garage myself and finished it (well, enclosed it and roughed it in with drywall) a few years ago. Plan is to get the cars in there by Thanksgiving!!

Monitor 10's hold a special place with me. The sound I heard made me love audio even more than I did before.
With your speakers being in corners, it's even better.
My Monitor 10's are in my man caves' corners again, all 4 of them.
Congrats! Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
Congrats man! Those are great speakers... worthy of better than a garage, but cheap enough to fit right in!
FWIW, if they're 10B's, then they're early 10B's, given the Polk Audio logo on the cab and the SL-1000's. My 10B's had the logos on the grills and SL-2000's.

Nice pickup there ! The monitor 10's were always one of my favorites. They were Polk's Bread and Butter for a VERY long time. Congrats.

I hope mine look as good as those...very minty! Congrats.
For the veterans here. I'm picking up a pair of these (Peerless) on Friday. They have no grills. Any idea on getting or making some grills? Has anyone done that? Don't mean to derail thread.
Thanks!

Very nice garage speakers. The Monitor 10s are probably my favorite all-time bang for the buck speaker. Enjoy!

Very nice, I picked up a set of Peerless 10A's about a year or so ago and have been in love with them ever since. I noticed the badge on the cabinet itself too when I was looking through the pics, mine are on the grille as well. cnh, you are gonna love them man, the peerless tweets are great. As for the grilles, I don't have a clue, mine could use a little work as well.

Great to see you back Jeff. The guy I'm picking them up from is going to audition them with a Parasound amp, tube pre, and a nice CDP.
Have you found some amplification for those yet? Might want to consider a used NAD integrated or Cambridge Audio integrated. Simple solution to your problem. I tried a number of amps on my LSI-7s, but the NAD hit the sweet spot with them--and for not much coin used!

Thanks C, I haven't been posting much, but have been lurking, lol. I haven't had the time or money to get anything serious going with my 10's yet, but someday soon I hope. I have them stored and every once in awhile I will pull em out and hook them up to the Onk and flip over to Pure Direct and take a listen, man I love those things, lol. Not the prettiest 10's around, but for $50, I'm not gonna complain, lol. Thanks for the advice on the amps, when it comes time I will give you a shout for some info.
