LSi mods

I am debating starting down the LSi crossover modification road. Before I do however I was curious for those of you who had done it, as to the cost of parts as well as the suggested parts for the mods.
I have a LSiC and 2 LSi 15's. More than likely I would start with the LSiC since I still have the original box, and its not going to be ridiculous to ship, as I dont plan on doing these mod's myself. The 15's would more than likely be dropped off at another forum members house so the crossovers can be fit and mounted by them since I lack skills in these areas lol.
So curious as to what parts I should use as well as the total cost for the mods.
If there are threads existing on this, feel free to post links to them.

Thats kinda the plan. Figure out what parts I need and then buy them slowly when they are on sale. Then once I have them all get the mod's done. The LSiC I might just do out of hand since it makes a HUGE difference from what I have heard. The 15's mod requires a bit more parts I believe and they are a lot heavier to move"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Do not waste your time replacing inductors. I experimented with air core inductors on the 9's, changing just one channel and comparing and to my ears I heard zero difference. I reversed that mod and just use the stock inductors.

On my 9s, IIRC I spent about $200 or so on parts, but I do not really remember as its been a while.
When you say you don't like Axon or Solen, you mean in the tweeter circuit? Or do you mean at all? The reason I ask is I have the 1C's you modded and sold to Norm and there is an Axon in the low pass. Now I'm curious what you don't like about it? Pehaps I should swap them out for something if you experience says you're not impressed. I'm sure you modded these awhile ago and have had other mods since. Just curious what characteristics you didn't care for using the Axon in the low pass.
Thanks

So the Sonicaps are less than the Daytons so thats why you suggested them on the low end correct?"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

BTW... how are those 1C's sounding after all these years? What are you driving them with?
They sound fantastic! They need a little cosmetic touch up, the side panels are pulling away on a two of the four sides. I am getting ready to add Larry's rings and add some brass spikes.
I bought these from Norm at a Polk gathering in Bloomington IL in 2006, IIRC. I am running a 30 wpc Pass Labs Aleph 30 single ended class A amp, a modded Adcom GDA 600 dac, Squeezebox Touch with external linear power supply, Dared SL2000A tube pre-amp with a variety of tubes for swapping, MIT power cables and MIT I/C's and MIT speaker cables. If I don't want to fire up the tubes I also have an Adcom GFP-750 pre-amp. Acutally the Dared tube pre-amp is run thru the bypass on the Adcom GFP-750 so I can listen to tubes, listen to the active portion of the 750 or the passive portion of the 750. Pretty much the best of all 3 worlds.
I was going to get Gimpod's boards for these, but you didn such a nice, clean job of modding the x-overs I passed on them. I don't ever see me doing any furthur cross over mods at this point. Once I'm done with the spikes and rings and dynamat, they will be complete.

Found a thread I started a LOOONNNGGGG time ago that had some relevant info on the LSiC.

The Dayton's are my second preference, and I use them on the lows. The Dayton's are much cheaper than the Sonicaps and modestly cheaper than the Solen's/Axon's.
The Axon's I prefer sonically the least and they are priced slightly above the Dayton's but still much cheaper than Sonicaps.

No worries gents, I take no offense. I do it all the time myself."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

As for Dayton vs. Solen, in the HF circuit Dayton are easier on the ears, but on woofer circuits I find Solen better.
