Teledyne (Acoustic Research) AR9's

these were the AR9's from last years Polkfest.....as well as the one at Troy's (possibly both?)
about 5 ft tall, dome tweet and mid.....8" lower mid.....2 12" side firing woofers per speaker. oh sweet lord are these things awesome.
probably a 7 out of 10 on the Agon scale, some minor scuffs but living room presentable. Most know, they sound effing fantastic. They are sitting unused as my 2 channel is in a smaller room and I went the modded LSi9 route., and as much as i know I will regret it...I have a big purchase coming up and it is just the fiscally responsible thing to do.
600 local pick up only (if anyone asks me to ship these, you will be laughed at and insulted...seriously, have you seen these things?)
130 lbs each.........they border on the delightfully overkill without going over it....much. I kept them and used them for so long becuase they were a perfect combination of critical listening and shear bad assery in one package.
My lack of luck selling anything here made me almost not post these, but I realized I just couldnt be that much of a ****. someone please take these...I will punt them out of family but it would kill me to do it.
Troy already had first crack and passed....I think I heard him die a little inside when he did.
pics to follow when I get home

Good luck with your sale, Lou, those sounded great when I heard them last year. if I didn't already have too many speakers...
-
I liked these better than the prototype LSiM - just sayin' GLWTS- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
-
Lou (and V...3) are not kidding. We sat there 'mesmerized' by their performance at the last PFest! They're BIG, but they can handle just about anything and do it well. If this weren't so far away and they weren't so 'big', I'd be there. But I too have too many speakers at this point....and have committed to a pair of Monitor 10s I'll be picking up soon (much to the irritation of my wife!). Not that AR9s are in the same league as Monitors....no, they're in a League of their own.
And 600 is a fantastic price for these! Someone should drive to Lou's 'immediately'. Come on you Jersey guys, I know you want these!
To Lou, how can you let these 'go'??
GLWTS!

I'm interested but I just moved and don't have room for these.SRT For Life; SDA Forever!
The SRT SEISMIC System:
Four main satellite speakers, six powered subs, two dedicated for LFE channel, two center speakers for over/under screen placement and three Control Centers. Amaze your friends, terrorize your neighbors, seize the audio bragging rights for your state. Go ahead, buy it; you only go around once. -
Gang. I'll say this. These were probably troys biggest regret in terms of sold gear. I acknowledge it will be mine as well but they are unused and I have some pricey custom work being dine to one of my bass guitars.
This is one of those "dont miss" moments in audio here guys. I'm kinda of stunned I'm not getting any love on these. Where are the newbs clamoring for great gear for cheap prices that I used to be when I bought these 6 years ago?
Some stranger on audiogon is gonna get a great dealLiving Room 2 Channel -

FYI I have a pair of these in my garage while I refoam the 6 drivers. They were professionally crated and shipped to me for $500. They can be shipped but I wouldn't try to do the job myself. Someone who is in driving distance should grab these up! Their size may be the reason you haven't had any takers. Good luck.TO ERR IS HUMAN. TO FORGIVE IS CANINE.

Greetings,
I would like to reiterate that these speakers are awesome. Although I haven't heard these particular speakers, I have heard Teledyne AR9's, and was instantly amazed and impressed. I would definitely be interested if I didn't already have my Sony SS-M9's. Also, if anyone was thinking of an early birthday present for me, this would be a great choice.

I could of bought a pair of these while stationed over in Europe I already had my AR58's and AR18's, the guy was going back to the states and did not want to ship them due to thier size I would of bought them had I not purchased the AR's I have now, if I lived closer to NJ I would pick those up, If I had the spare time a trip to NJ would be scheduled in $600 is a deal.Home Theater

OK, I will take them...you can either bring them on the plane or drive them down...thanks bud....
yes...folks I am j/k...or NOT!!!
The Moron known as BDT of the Knucklhead Kingdom shoulda brought them here to begin with. I hear on the Polkies not getting it...those primo 1C's you picked for me and I had completely redone have not even gotten a sniff...speaks like this for a few franklins are rare and one of greatest bargains in audio.
See you in a couple days Big Lou...I got a couple big suprises to show you....GD has become my latest Polkfest Tube Mule...with bigger boxes than even the ones you brought me.
These Speakers are like five figure good, no s@#t, they are..put some good clean power to them and they can be the last ones you ever buy, if I could get them they would be mine...who knows maybe they will be one day.

This is a steal of a price for an excellent pair of speakers that will shine in 2 channel and HT. Talk about filling a room with good sound.

Lou, my probs are over. My bud Ray in Brooklyn is going to take the AR-9LS for what I paid for them. He's looking at about $250-$300 worth of re-foam, bit it'll be worth it for him cause the cabs and grilles are dynamite looking. I get to do all the legwork, taking them apart and getting them done down here, and he gets to just come and pick them up. I'd probably be asked to deliver if both fit in my car at the same time. They don't.
Bump for Louski. -
These are still here??
FAAAK.
Ok, I've got to go back and count some pennies.

As if enough good things about these speakers haven't been said already.........let me put it this way, when it comes to audio and specifically speakers, it takes a lot to impress me. These speakers deliver and then some. The ONLY reason I'm not driving to Lou's is the fact I've got no where to put them.Political Correctness'.........defined

Lou, congrats on the sale. If I were closer and a bit more fluid (used to live in Jersey years ago) I'd have done you a hundred better than the audiogoner! Really nice towers....!

Well, there are a couple of factors at play....one, NJ is a hell of a long way from here. Two, I don't really have much time to listen to the rig I have now. Three, and most importantly, I saw Lou rub his dingus on them and I'm pretty sure he finished when I left... so that sort of cooled my interest.
