Does anyone want to try the new Polk Headphones? I have a box full of them and its first come first serve. You will be responsible for sending them to the next person and keeping me in the loop. Aside from that and posting your review on the product pages, it's FREE and open to anyone here.

I have 6 pairs to send....speak up.

I'd be definitely interested. I'm actually in the market to upgrade from my Bose in-ears.

    Is it model specific doro?

Not really Drenis. I have a 1K, 2K and 3K model...two of each. You pick one and that's what you get.

I understand about the in the ear models, two of them, but that's something you have to address on your own and decide. I would hope that you would clean them prior to the demo but again, I don't have control over that nor care what you do. If you sign up, you assume the risk of earwigs or a massive inner ear infection that results in total hearing loss, I guess you could say.

Polk would be very interested in your thoughts on these Pietro, as it's exactly what kind a variance we're looking for in regards to gear and other ownership. PM me please.

OK, 3K(Drenis & Assimilated) are gone for now....need another 1K and 2K demo. You can still PM me as I'm just saying the first stop is already accounted for.

I need your full mailing address, email and phone number. If you don't send that, you don't get anything.

Pietro944, I would be interested in that comparison as well. I have a pair of Shure SE210's (which I'm very happy with), so it would be helpful to hear how the Polk's compare to a set of Shure IEM's.

Yea,this is turning out to be a really cool idea.I'm really looking forward to it.I'm 61 and I don't drive or jog(lol),but over the years I've accumulated quite a collection of players,'phones and amps. When i go out I take my Sony D-T405 am/fm disc player and listen to both radio and cd's.....it's 20 yrs old, still going strong(my stuff never seems to break).I also have a nice WAV player from HK,(EA350 v2),which I have been using to download all my cd's,the last couple of months(EAC and Bit Perfect)......this is the reason I've been gradually selling off my collection.

I've got Ultimate Ear's 10's,a pair of Shures......a $28 pair from HK,that are damn good,also.....At home,I use my AKG 701's(my favorite)......very,very accurate....they don't add bass, just reproduce it......I'm obsessed with female vocals(Nerina Pallot's "Sophia" is a religious experience on the 701's!!!)....I'm retired and disabled,so I've got a lot of time to listen.I recently bought a Xiang Sheng Tube Dac witha headphone amp and I have an older Zhalou dac, which has a headphone amp with it's own dedicated headphone section.....very powerfull.

I use a Cmoy amp with the AD827 chip for portable use......Mark is right.....specs don't mean much on headphones. The only thing I care about is impedance....how hard they are to drive, nothing else matters.
I'm absolutely astounded when I'm on the train and i watch all the young 'un's with their ipods.....cheap plastic earphones....no headphone amp.......they DO have, great hearing(I'm jealous!),but I don't think they know what they're missing.........I've actually gone out with my humungous AKG's and they must look at me like I'm a spaceman from Mars(lol)......I'm old and don't care....it's all about the music, not fashion, with me.

I'm rambling,now....back on point...I'd be honored to share my impressions with my fellow polkies. You or anyone else can contact me by pm or phone...whatever....I'd be happy to pitch in.....peter

OK first round has started with:

    Pietro944 - Head 2K
    Gdpeck - Head 2K
    Nwohlford - Ear 3K

I have a Ear 1K & 2K left and those are just waiting on some responses from ppl who already signed up. You guys need to remember that in all these demos I need the following information, even if we've worked together before....

    Name
    Address
    Phone Number
    Email

I may have you saved in my log but this ensures that if you moved, I have the correct address. There has been at least 5 times where the package went one place, only to be told later...Oh yeah I moved. I don't know you moved and am sure on the last list of people you would even tell anyways so do me a favor ok?

As far as the passing around of the in-ear types, this is what I would suggest. When you are done with them, please clean them. When you receive them, please clean them. I'd use isopropyl alcohol and paper towels and Qtips to wipe the main frames down. Toss the ear buds fittings in a cup with the same alcohol or whiskey of your choice and then ream with a Qtip. Don't send funky earphones to another member please. If you're not comfortable with trying, after cleaning, something that's been used by someone else, don't sign up. Simple. I don't have any problem personally with using something after its been cleaned but I'm generally disgusting so take that with a grain of salt.

Qtip is a Johnson and Johnson product and has done nothing to influence this suggestion....yet. HINTY HINTY J&J!

    Enjoy!

Who knows but if you paid anything more than a casual login glance, there's no telling what could have happened while you were away.

I always found that the in the ear buds tend to fall out when it is cold. The wire gets stiff and makes it difficult for the buds to stay in.

The material used to wrap the actual wire can have negative effects in the cold. It was 30 Celsius up here yesterday... the cold isn't here yet to really test them. I've had ear buds where the cord does get stiff as a rock and others where they stayed free and somewhat loose.

I dislike ear buds too because of your issue. I have a big head and big ears and some models just don't fit right. But my current pair sit in the bowls of my ears as well as halfway inside the canal. It works great and when sized right not only do you not feel them in there but they are pretty secure.

This will all be reviewed when I receive my pair for demo.

Please do. I doubt I will try any out, I never use earphones unless I travel, which is always to somewhere hot, so i just use the ones I got with my ipod....
