I have the rat shack analog meter, runs on a 9v battery and is fun to use.
you will notice a difference once you dial everything in.

+2 for the old style analog radio shack spl meter.
The older style has a little increased response in the 2KHz to 10KHz range and rolls off fairly
steeply in the last octave (10K-20K).
The newer style analog meter has a bit more peak in 3K-8K and even more roll off above 10K
than the older ones.
The new digital style has a big peak in response from 4K to 10K, but is more accurate from 10K-20K,
and also has a lot more roll off in bass frequencies in the bottom two octaves than the analog ones.
Here's a link to a review of the older and newer analog meters and the newer digital one.
It will give you a good idea of the accuracy of the meters relative to frequency in particular.

I also have the analog SPL meter from Radio Shack from 15 bucks you cant beat it. Good luck trying to find one since they have been on clearance for a while now.Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.
