Hey guys.

Looking to do a tweeter replacement on the famously easily blown R50's. Did a search and couldnt find anything as I'm sure its old news. Can anyone point me in the right direction I was looking at doing the Vifa D19TD-05 3/4" Poly Dome Tweeter and change the R1 resistor to a mills 2.5 ohm. Does this sound like its doable. Not looking for the moon just something that will be a little better and not blow.

Thanks

Michael

I hear about these tweeters blowing on occasion, yet I never managed to blow the tweeters in my R50's or R15's (same tweeter) no matter how loud I blasted them. Sounds like the real problem is that some people are overdriving their amplifiers and causing them to clip. That is what really kills tweeters.

My advice? Get the proper tweeter from Polk and control your volume. Or get a more powerful amp if you need to turn them louder.

I agree. I owned R50's for years and played them as loud as I wanted and never blew the tweeters.
I ran them with H-K power and they sounded good.

What power are you using with them.
Like all Polk products, they like high current, clean power.

No need to replace the tweeters and keep blowing them and blaming Polk.
