I have been looking at lovesac furniture for over two years now and plan on investing in one of their sacs this winter. However upon researching them I notice that there are competitors out there selling pretty much the same things for less money and made in the usa exc exc.

My question is has anyone dealt with any of these companies before?

Here are the two main ones I see.

$700 for a bean bag chair? I'm in the wrong business.

A friend of mine made one himself for like 50 bucks. It's indistinguishable from a Love Sac. The cost is really outrageous.

They just use cut-up foam rubber from stuff like a couch.

Interesting, what material did he use for the outside? How did he sew all that? I'm not a seamstress, but making a big ball look nice seems like it would be difficult. How small did he cut the little pieces of foam? The big one in the ad looks really comfy :afro

hmm. It appears that if you buy this one you end up having a 3-some with a couple of hot broads, so I'd go with this one:

They are SUPER comfy, no doubt. They also take up an awful lot of space and have a horrible WAF (I got it from him when his wife made him get rid of it, and I could barely give it away because everyone's girlfriend / wife said "no way")

As for my friend, he bought the cut-up cushioning from someplace... I'll ask him where. He just used corduroy for the exterior, and a lady he works with sewed it together for him (including a zipper so it could be washed).

Not saying it would be easy or something you could do yourself, but compared to 600+ dollars there are definitely options :)
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I've never had to deal with the company for any service or anything, but I've had a Lovesac 6ft movie sac for two years and i love it. It puts you in too low of a position for stereo, but for reading or watching a movie, they are crazy comfortable. They are definitely not beanbag chairs. And they are definitely HUGE. Mine barely fits through a doorway.

    SO comfortable, though

I have one of these. Memory foam in a beanbag chair.....yes please.

I've had it for about 4 years now and i will lay in it every night without hesitation. The Mrs. also likes it for those "ergonomic" positions. They have come WAY down in price since we bought one.

Yes, I have been to the Lovesac store and I always kick myself for not walking out with one.

To me they are fugly and no wife short of a Gratefull Dead roadie would want one of these things in their living room. Looks like the kind of furniture you used to buy when you couldn't afford real furniture. Just my opinion is all. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

As far as being too low for stereo.....I dunno, I enjoy sitting on the floor listening to stereo occasionally and find some benefits. The old tweets at ear level routine is just a guideline, not etched in stone.

It was too broad of a statement, I realize. If you have speakers that are coherent at that level, or have a dispersion pattern that accommodates it, then it would work out just fine. I suppose the ability to lower speakers to suit listening level would work, or even a forward-leaning adjustment.

But I like the way they look, in the right room, of course.

Hey now!...i have some very expensive furniture. What furniture that you know of can be turned on end, squished down and reformed to refit your fat arse. I'd like to see Johnny stickley (http://www.stickley.com/) do something like that.

I was wanting a Futon on wheels, double sized, for my mini man cave/office. We are getting a samsung smart tv 55 incher for the main HT / LR, so my old Sony 32 inch tube and my old Sony 5.1 are teamed back up and in my office. Any recommends ? My first thought is a recliner, but just know I will need the occasional seating for 2. At the same time, I gotta be able to occasionally wheel it out of the way (or slide) for closet access. (winter stuff) dont mean to thread steal, this is kinda the same thing, and I did have an eye on the bean bag chairs too. Kmarche has the Joe Boxer w/ottoman for 59.99 adult size.

I have a pair, one is the larger one covered in velour, one is covered in ballistic nylon so you can drag it outside camping and it will fold into a bag (a heavy one). Super comfortable. You fluff them then sit down or jump into it and it will form to your body. It's not normal foam but memory foam that's a little stiffer. My wife is actually the one who suggested them for our new theater until we could plop down $5k for real theater seats. The next week I got called to a builder model home sale and they had a pair in the garage. I bargained the pair with a Minka-Aire traditional gyro fan (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0037U3D2C?tag=tlbox15-20) for $100 total. Drove them home and wife was estatic. She's down in the theater with her friend watching a documentary right now on them. I can't say I'd pay full price, but I can see WHY they're so expensive. I think we have the SuperSac and MovieSac
