Another Magnepan Question

I bought some SMGs a few weeks back and have had some time to listen to them.
What I like:
large sound stage and good imaging
very natural reproduction of piano and strings
What I don't like:
general fuzziness and lack of detail to the sound
vocals are recessed unless very forward on the recording, if that makes sense
can lose control of the upper bass on detailed passages
Of course, I have the lowest model in their line. I was planning to listen to them for another few weeks then flip them, but a pair of MG-IIb have shown up on Craigslist for what looks to be a good price. Do those of you who have heard a lot of Maggies think upgrading would help to remedy the issues I have with them?

intangible ,
I own a pair of modded MGII's , these have been factory re-freshed , and I'm very happy with them .
What You could be hearing with the SMGs is delamination , or maybe the tweeter wires have corroded away .
Sorry that You are experiencing problems with them . . . here's a link to some maggie lovers , some can be some what fanatical lol
