New arrivals.

Pictured are:

- (1) pair of the stock Electro Harmonix 6922's.

- (3) matched pairs of Amperex 6dj8's: Bugle Boys, white labels, made at the Herleen plant in Holland. (2) pairs are from '64, (1) pair is from '65.

- (3) more matched pairs of Amperex 6dj8's: Orange Globes, made at the Herleen plant in Holland. All (3) pairs made the 29th week of '68.

- (2) matched pairs of Amperex 6922's: PQ's, white labels, made in the USA. The more worn looking pair includes (1) tube made in '66 and (1) tube made in '67. The Mint looking pair includes (1) tube made the 46th week of '61 and (1) tube made the 49th week of '61. This is my best pair.

I have another pair of white label PQ's on the way. It's a date matched pair made the 45th week of '61. This pair plus the other pair from '61 will probably be my go-to quad.

All (3) types of old Amperex tubes sound dramatically better than the stock Russian tubes. I'm listening to the Bugle Boys now, and they're fantastic, even with their "inferior" 6dj8" design.

I recently purchased a Amperex bugle boy 5AR4 rectifier tube as replacement for an original Eico branded Mullard in my Eico ST-70 integrated, and it works and sounds as good or even better than the Mullard. And yes, I hear a difference in rectifier tubes. Sounds like you have some quality listening ahead this weekend. Enjoy!!!

    Glad you're enjoying your BB!

My initial listening impression is that while the 6922 PQ's are more refined, more clear, and more linear, the 6DJ8 BB's and Orange Globes have a warmth, airyness, and enveloping liquidity that I find very pleasing.

I'll have to wait till I get the other pair of '61 PQ's before I pass too much judgment; the (4) date-matched early production PQ's should be pretty sweet.

    Yes I do! Thanks, man.
