Just purchased the Denon AVR-1912 got it all hooked up configured it manually watched avatar on blue ray sounds great. I ran the audyssey setup WOW!!! just WOW!!! I cant believe how much better it sounds so much better sounds like I switched out the recievers to a much more expensive one. Im really impressed and blown away with the audyssey kudos to denon. Ive had older denons that sounded great but this is my first one with the audyssey. Now my $300 reciever sounds just as good or better than my freinds $1000 and up recievers.

For me Audyssey XT, has worked ok. But XT32 was on a whole other level! As always YMMV.

I let the XT do it's thing on my 3311 and it did an ok job, I did have to tweak a lot of the settings. For example it set the crossovers on my front and center speakers at 40hz

Same here, at least with XT. With the newer XT32 it was truly an automatic setup, well almost. I did bump up the LFE by 3db's. But other than that, the more I tried to tweak it, the worse it sounded.

I've had my Onkyo for a couple of months now and ran Audyssey for the first time today and it made a big difference in the way the system sounded. Like you, I was impressed so don't let the nay-sayers get you down. We watched a movie after the correction and it sounded fantastic. It's the best sound for movies I've squeezed out of this receiver.
The RTI's are a great speaker for theater anyway. We liked it, glad you did too.

Is that what this means? Your ears are hearing the same level?
I ask because the balanced ouput from my DAC is obviously a lot stronger than the SE output, so when I run balanced, I keep the volume on the preamp at about 25%, but when I run SE, I keep the volume closer to 50%.

A good investment is a Radio Shack SPL meter. It is nice to actually measure the SPL to give you an idea what is actually going on. I like to use mine on Friday nights after drinking beer and cranking it up just to get an idea as to what level equals loud.

Audyssey to dial it in; my ears to tweak it.

My ears aren't calibrated (left ear really needs to start getting with the program), so the rule is: what sounds good to me IS good.

Audyssey MultEQ XT is very much a garbage-in/garbage-out proposition. If you aren't using a tripod to position the mic and following common sense procedures during the calibration (and doing all available positions), you're going to get a horrible result. Also, Audyssey doesn't set the crossovers... It passes the information to the individual AVR maker's software, and they decide what the threshold is. That's why Chris Kyriakakis of Audyssey always recommends setting the crossovers back up to 80Hz for most systems (with LPF of LFE at 120Hz no matter what). Just because it detects that channel's -3dB point as 40Hz, that doesn't mean it's the optimal setting. Just make sure you don't set the crossover LOWER than what is detected, as that frequency range has not been EQ'd by Audyssey.
    Equipment list:
    Onkyo TX-NR3010 9.2 AVR
    Emotiva XPA-3 amp
Polk RTi70 mains, CSi40 center, RTi38 surrounds, RTi28 rears and heights
SVS 20-39CS+ subwoofer powered by Crown XLS1500
    Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player
    DarbeeVision DVP5000 video processor

That's exactly the way I used to tweak XT. But it didn't seem to work with XT32. I've had others tell me the same thing. Basically let it do it's thing, double check levels, and bump up the LFE (if you prefer). Other than that leave it alone.
