I just ordered a set of rti a1's and was wondering if I can run them in pure direct mode or leave them set to large without damaging them . The problem is I can't use audyssey if I change them from large to small after calibration because it automatically add a sub which I do not have yet.
Thanks

What receiver are you using to run them?

Being set to "full range" or "large" or "pure direct" will not inherently damage the speakers; they can take whatever you throw at them, as long as it's good, clean power. Under-powering them at a high volume, whether set to "large" or not, could potentially damage them, as it could any speaker.

    BTW, welcome to CP!

There's a ton of good info and helpful folks 'round these parts.
    2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

Living Room: PC > Marantz AV-7703 > Emotiva XPA-5 > Sonus Faber Liuto Towers, Sonus Faber Liuto Center, Sonus Faber Liuto Bookshelves > Dual SVS PC12-Pluses

    Office: Phone/Tablet > AudioEngine B1 > McIntosh D100 > Bryston 4B-ST > Polk Audio LSiM-703's

Run them as full. Listen to them for awhile before making a judgement. They give give a pretty good spectrum of sound for a small speaker.
